Cathedral Grove

16 km east of Port Alberni on Hwy 4.

A spectacular tourist spot I've been afraid to stop at ever since the tourists who pulled over in the parking lot to let traffic go by were killed by a falling tree. They were not the first to die this way.

Very nice, but I understand why you'd be afraid. I don't think you should continue to feel that you should avoid it...maybe going, enjoying it, and arriving back home safely will ease your fears about the place.

I guess our hurricanes (Florida) keep the dying trees culled, but we get a lot of falling branches from those huge, live oaks. While I have seen cars and houses smashed, I am surprised that more people are not killed by them.

A beautiful park. I know when we go to Colorado and see the sign that says, " watch for falling boulders" I think..... won't that be a little late if I see it falling? I see them all along the side of the highway... a scary thing, indeed.
