Over the weekend I took my kids camping in the Mountains. Since it was a state holiday on Thursday, by the time we got up there on Friday afternoon the spot we usually camped at was taken so we ventured a little higher up the mountain and found a nice cozy spot hidden back in the trees.
We spent the first night setting up camp and getting the fire pit made. Gathering wood and making dinner. After the sun went down, it got pretty cold so we went through most of the wood we had gathered but we not worried about it as there was plenty fallen trees to be had.
The next day, we had expected some friends but they didn't show so we decided to take a trip to town to buy bug spray. Normally when we camp up there, we don't have a bug problem but the biting flies were atrocious for some reason. I took the kids and honey stayed at camp in case our friends wandered in.
After we got back, honey had gathered enough wood and then some so we spent the afternoon just wandering around looking at flowers and taking short walks. On one of mine, I spotted a big white plastic wrap large enough for a body to be stored in so I went back to camp to tell honey I was going to investigate. She say's "that BIG PLASTIC BAG? I didn't want to go near it!!! What if there is a DEAD BODY in it?"
Well that's why I wanted to go look! About a year ago, a little boy about 11 years old went missing around that spot and they never found his body. His poor parents. If there was a chance that it was a body of someone I was going to go check it out! I would never consider not.
So my daughter and I walk to where the plastic is and notice on the way there TONS of hair scattering the ground in clumps. I had on some gloves so I pick up the plastic and out pours all this bright red BLOOD!!! Some one had put something in this bag and then put a bungee at the bottom to keep it in. I'm sure by the sign of all the hair, some animal had got out most of what was in there and just left hair and blood. Lots and lots of blood and boy once I lifted it and it poured out - the smell about floored us!!! I made sure to point out to my daughter that it was not human hair and probably a deer that someone had poached. However I cannot for the life of me figure out why they would plastic wrap something and then leave it hidden in the bush.
But it did kind of explain all the flies.....
