I should have taken some tissue with me when I dropped my son off at the airport last night. We got his ticket and checked his bags. Delta now charges $50!!!!! for every extra checked bag and I didn't have it. So he checked his guitar and took both suitcases onboard with him. They also want more money to walk him to the gate if he is under 16 and so I had a Delta guy tell me to take him to a certain line and lie about his age so we wouldn't have to pay for the unaccompanied minor ticket. He looks 16 so it was easy and they didn't question us about it.
Honey and I stood next to the line where he was x-rayed and I cried my eyes out watching him go through security. I lost him in the crowd once he was through but couldn't leave. Honey had to finally tell me he was gone and it was time to go home.
It was so quiet in the house without him there. And I will hate it today when I get home from work and he isn't there to give me a hug and ask how work was :(
Christmas is our next scheduled visit. That is if I can come up with the money to fly him out again. Anchorage to Salt Lake City is not cheap!!!
I'm taking my vacation next week. I will have 5 whole days off!!! it's going to be heaven. We are going to a friend's cabin to camp and play at the lake. I always take one last camping trip at labor day. It's hard to believe we are at the end of summer. It feels like it has just flown by. I am NOT ready for cold and snow. Although at least this year I will for once look forward to Christmas.
