Peaches at the Vet's
Peaches at the Vet's
Can you believe DH has to take time off work to come home and help me stuff an almost 16 year old, eight and a half lb, furry bag o' bones into a big, plastic tote box just to get the bugger to the vet? We have two pet carriers but Peaches has this uncanny knack of making himself grow to three times his size when I try to shove him in. Bad Peaches! Maybe if he didn't see it coming......next time I'll try butt first but then I'll probably get clawed and bitten. Anyone know where I can get a Kevlar pullover? DH drove while I sat holding the lid down on the now nine lb box on my lap. Surprisingly we arrived on time for his appointment. Fortunately we didn't have to wait long to see the vet. She passed the plastic box to an assistant who very kindly poured out the pee and cleaned it for us. She gently examined Peaches who was loving the attention from this nice lady. He wasn't so happy when she took him away to draw blood for testing. The vet warned us of all the horrible things that could be wrong with our poor pussy cat and then said she found nothing unusual during her gentle examination of him. She said she would call us later with the results of his blood tests, we stuffed Peaches back in the box, forked over an arm and a leg and took him home for his last tuna treat. "Last tuna treat" because the vet also told us that we could feed him canned salmon but tuna and the tuna juice could cause crystals to form in his urine. Unfortunately for Peaches, he prefers tuna over salmon. The vet phoned a few hours later and said all his blood tests were AOK! Good Peaches!
PS: I haven't seen hide nor hair of him since he scarfed down his tuna treat, almost 10 hours ago. I think he may be a tad miffed with me.
