Busy Weekend
It started on Friday evening when DH decided it was finally time to celebrate his birthday. His actual birthday was earlier this month but work and volunteer commitments delayed the celebration. I spent a good part of the day preparing a scratch birthday cake for him; shopping for ingredients, mixing, baking, frosting and decorating.

I was pleased with how it looked and no one spit it out so I guess it tasted OK. Louisa Potts would be proud of me.
The kids and grandkids came over after dinner for cake and sherbet.

Those five grandkids sure had a lot of fun.

You finally get to see the youngest without his helmut.

The birthday boy with granddaughter. You'll just have to take my word for it but she's a cutie.

Mustn't forget the eldest grandson. He's a cutie too.
Saturday DH and I spent pricing all the junk in the garage for the garage sale we're having next weekend.

We haven't finished yet. Maybe it will be the weekend after next.
Sunday was the Crafters' Market. Cops for Cancer was down at the Harbour Quay too. One arrogant cop told the organizer of the Crafters Market that we had to stay open until 4:00PM instead of our usual closing at 2:00PM because there was going to be hundreds of people coming out for the Cops for Cancer and to watch the cops get their mustaches and hair shaved off. What a joke. There were more cops and axilliary cops then general public hanging around. Some crafters left at 3:00 but most of us stayed until 4:00. The only cop I saw swaggered through Spirit Square with a head full of hair and his 'stache intact.
I'm not surprised the general public was a no show. It was bloody cold in the harbour. It had rained earlier in the morning so the ground was wet and an icy wind was blowing in off the water. I arrived wearing wool socks, long pants, a short sleeved t-shirt, a heavy, wool sweater and a nylon rain jacket. By 4:00 I had swiped a pair of my wool fingerless gloves and a toque from my inventory and had a polar fleece blanket wrapped around my legs. The organizer of the Market told us next Sunday will be the last for this year.
About four hours into the Craft Market, I hadn't sold a thing when a couple came through my stall raving about everything I had out. They took turns pointing out particularly stunning items I had on display. They left after telling me how talented I was and without purchasing anything but I didn't mind after all that praise. I was still basking in that glow when I overhead them at the next stall putting on the exact same show for that crafter.
Today I had to clean the house as DH was having his Secret Society meeting here. Meanwhile, I caught up on my knitting and blogging. Tomorrow is my day of rest.
OK, so that was more than just the weekend. So sue me.
