Busy Bee That's Me

I spent this morning lolling about in bed and knitting (and we all know what a chore I consider that) so this afternoon I decided to get busy. I wrapped Lynda's birthday presents and got everything ready for mailing. I finished the shopping list and hauled my little granny cart out of the garage stuffing it with the items to be mailed, shopping bags and purse. I then set off on my journey to Safeway, hoping all the while that a wheel wouldn't choose today to pop off the axle and go rolling down the sidewalk.
*While I'm on the subject of granny carts and you can add strollers too, why in the world don't they make the handles adjustable? The handles always seem to be two inches too short for me. It's very hard on the back and shoulders.*
I get to the post office, which is housed in a grocery store I don't frequent and waited and waited and waited for the one person ahead of me to finish with the postal clerk. She kept interrupting him to tell him the parcel was going to Surrey and did that make any difference to the cost and did the store have any vacuum bags and she was asking him this because she was in a hurry for a doctor's appointment and didn't have time to look for them herself and could she borrow his pen and she needs to write the address on the parcel so can she pay him after she's done that and on and on and on. The conversation I had with the postal clerk was not quite so elaborate.
Postal Clerk: Regular mail?
Me: Yes, please.
PC: You don't want it to go Express?
Me: No.
PC: Or Priority?
Me: No.
PC: That's $9.34.
Me: Thank you.
Safeway is just on the other side of the street so I start fishing for the shopping list I put in my pocket before leaving home. Damn! It's gone! Must have fallen out along the way. Well, I'm NOT going back to look for it. The wind has probably whisked it a few blocks over anyway. I'll just have to try and remember what was on it. As I passed Shoppers Drug Mart I think, "I know there was a bunch of stuff DH had put on there that he wanted from the drug store." but I can't remember what so I head across the street for my groceries. I filled the granny cart with everything else on the list plus a few sale items and head for the check out. There is a lady in a motorized wheel chair ahead of me who admires my shopping bags. She asks if I've thought of selling them and I told her I had one half finished that I'd be selling at the Farmer's Market and she says, "I'll take it!" I told her I hadn't even decided what to charge and she said that was OK and handed me a card with her name and phone number on it with instructions to call her when I get the bag finished. I think I'll forget about baby blankets and knit shopping bags. So, with my shopping completed I set off for home praying all the while that a wheel doesn't decide to pop off or the axle break under the weight of my groceries. I spent the rest of the afternoon...........um.............Oh yes! Blogging.

The indestructible, last until the end of time shopping bag.
