All About Bill
Hurricane Bill that is. It was Friday, late afternoon, when we pulled into Liverpool, NS. It had been another hot, muggy day and we'd been hearing about Bill sliding up the east coast of the continent for days via The Weather Network. The media was showing video of tornado damage in southern Ontario while speculating what would happen when Bill hit the Maritimes. There were frequent warnings to stock up on at least 72 hours worth of water and supplies. DH and I were more than a little worried. Well, maybe DH was OK but I wanted to plant ourselves until Bill had passed. We spent the next three nights at the same motel. Our lodgings had a window that overlooked the river and when Bill arrived in all his fury we watched the river overflow it's banks and creep towards us as the tide rolled in. The massive oaks outside our window did not bend to Bill and as suddenly as the storm had started, it was over. There were a lot of branches scattered around but no trees had been uprooted and no roofs had been blown off. That afternoon we went for a drive and noticed the ocean hadn't quite settled down.

With Ol' Windbag Bill all blown out we continued our vacation. DH lamented the waste of two days but I'd never been in a hurricane before. I love the wind. It was thrilling and exciting and it cooled off Nova Scotia for a bit.
