Remember These Plants.

Re-potted and photographed July 25, 2009 I will be posting an updated picture of them in a month or so.
I have always admired people with a green thumb. My mother has a green thumb. Her houseplants always look healthy and her flowering plants produce flowers. I on the other hand have two black thumbs. Only the hardiest of the hardy survive in my home. I've had my cacti and philodendrons for years. The three plants in the pot above were beginning to die. I haven't got a clue as to what they are. The tall one, a gift for Christmas 2007, hasn't produced a new leaf in over a year and what it has are slowly turning brown. The ivy-like plant at the back of the pot also has not grown. I pinched the dead leaves off so it doesn't look too bad in the photo. The plant in the foreground was my birthday present this past April. It seemed to be doing well at first, getting bushy with new leaves, but now some of the leaves have died (also pinched off) and if things continue as usual it would have looked dreadful in a few months. Now, do you see the blue glass ball-on-a-stem at the back of the pot? That's one of those Aqua Globes they've been advertising on TV. I bought a couple a while back and they have brought my sad and sorry looking Ficus back to life. I haven't picked a dead leaf up off the floor in ages. Even my Philodendrons look better. I just know these plants will become lush and healthy, like Mom's, if I give them a little time with the Aqua Globe. I'm sure this sounds like a commercial but I am just so pleased to have nice, thriving houseplants. You don't have to buy them on TV. Walmart and Zellers sell them.
