Odds 'N' Sods

I finished another Pillowcase Dress. This one's for our other grandaughter.

I am preparing to spin and knit pet hair for people who want a keepsake of their well loved furbabies. I can knit it into a Doggy Bag. I have a photo of my neighbour's bag to show prospective clients. I knit up this bookmark last night.

I want to design another one with little paw prints on it.

I spotted our first crane fly of the season. It's actually early this year. They don't usually appear until late August. I remember when we first move to Port Alberni. It was early September 1981 and we had swarms of the darned things inside our rental unit. I'd never seen them before and they are pretty big although harmless. This one's wingspan measured 4cm/1.5 " which is medium size for a Crane Fly.

I think Angel may have had something to do with it's demise.

I'll save the fur next time I brush Tartan.
My worst bug experience was in Gimli Manitoba where they are inundated with fish flies each summer. Everywhere in town was covered in them and the dead ones collected along the water edge and smelled like dead fish. The flies are about the same size as crane flies but smell bad. Yuck!

We get lots of bugs flying and/or crawling ... it's an entymologist's paradise down here and may explain the lack of brain power in humans in the area.
