I'm Under House Arrest
I'm confined to quarters. I am a prisoner in my own home. Although, I am being treated like a princess.
I have a head cold and on Friday night I asked DH if he was OK with just soup for dinner as I didn't have the energy to make anything else. He said, "OK." and "I'll make myself a coddled egg." I made him his dam soup and when he later grudgingly asked if I would like a coddled egg I said no and went to bed. Saturday I resolved to make him no meals but at dinner time he appeared with a bowl of soup, a can of V-8 juice and two coddled eggs on toasted buns. When I was done dining on this feast he took away my empty dishes and brought me a bowl of fruit cocktail. His skill with the can opener is almost as great as mine. Today he offered to make me a sandwich for lunch but I declined as he tends to be a bit miserly with the filling. He even told me not to go out today and said he would do the grocery shopping. He left for Safeway about the time I would have been starting dinner, if we'd had anything in the house to eat. He was back an hour later and I was about to congratulate him on the swift completion of his appointed task but alass, he had only returned for his forgotten wallet. The groceries were still in a cart in Safeway waiting for his return. He couldn't find his wallet and decided he had left it in the office so it was back to the car for a quick trip into town. 15 minutes later he called to tell me it wasn't in the office and would I have a look around the house for it. I found it within two minutes, on the coffee table, where he'd been reading all afternoon. I met him at the door, handed over his wallet and he headed back to Safeway to be reunited with his groceries. Before he could get back home I had preheated the oven and tossed in a couple of frozen turkey patties. After he brought home the bacon I dumped a bag of salad into a bowl and buttered some buns. I have been ordered to stay home tomorrow as well. Now, why is it we women folk work through the same illness that has our men folk bedridden? Oh ya, so they can't do our grocery shopping.
