The workmen finally left at about 4:30 this afternoon. Their job is done and our floors look great. However, I jumped the gun thinking we could put everything back this weekend. Now we need to find a carpenter to install the molding all around the upstairs. That nice carpenter I took a shine to has disappeared. Even the flooring store owner (who recommended him) has neither seen nor heard from him since he worked on our stairs. I tried to call his cell phone and got his voice mail. DH and I were speculating as to whether he had a family emergency, out of town or cashed the cheque we gave him and went on a bender.

Angel-Who-Isn't testing the new floor's sleepworthyness The workmen placed heavy pieces of furniture over the wood strip that is glued between the hallway and each room. We've been told not to move the furniture until tomorrow morning when the glue will have set. So we are climbing over and squeezing past end tables and dressers blocking all the doorways. It's a bloody pain but it's worth it.
