Its Tuesday Not Monday

After a long weekend its hard to remember what day it is! And we had such a lovely weekend. I even got to lay out in the sun yesterday. I don't know what got into hubby this weekend but he cleaned the kitchen. He was mopping the floor when he realized all the tiles are loose. So he started popping them up. Then it was off to the store for some floor paint as a temporary fix and also to seal the floor that was under the tiles. He was painting until 11 last night! I think he is just excited. See tomorrow is the start of him working up at the race track for the nascar race this weekend. He just loves working up there and he is such a people person!
In other news I was looking at the school website, reading their discipline policy. Seems only the school board has the authority to expel a student. The principal can suspend a student for up to 3 days. Interesting.
I have found a group for homeschoolers and there is one lady who wants to meet with me and help me through this. She is about 45 minutes away. I was pleasantly shocked at the number of responses I got after posting on the message board! Everyone told me to take a deep breath, I have all summer to get ready. Hubby is all for homeschooling too! He thinks like me, that it will be best for Kota and we can get him involved in a group so he has interaction with other kids. And kota seems to like the idea too!
I have kota's teacher's home phone number and I might give a call tonight to ask just what happened on Friday. I guess I will have to mail his shirt to him when it comes in. :(
Looks like it could rain here. Its a pleasant 70 degrees, nice breeze blowing. I guess I better start on my chores.

What a jerk! You are so right. The principal can suspend here for 10 days, but then it is up to a special committee to decide whether or not a student is expelled. He might have overstepped his boundaries and if I were you, whether or not Kota goes back to that stupid school or not, I'd make that idiot accountable for what he has done. He doesn't have the right to do that!

The weekend was great, it's just what some of us needed. So happy that things are looking up Mary.

Your week-end was like mine - relaxing. I even had another sunbath on Tuesday - it seemed like MOnday and Today, Wednesday has to be Tuesday. I may never get my days straight until after Sunday. Did look at the paper and it is Wednesday. Nena

I really wish you would approach ACLU or talk to a lawyer about suing them--I know it will be time consuming, possible be a pain and, in the long run, nothing may happen but it might just be a little easier for the next kid to know a parent won't just take it and walk away.

I see you and your husband as great role models and would make wonderful teachers. Kota can learn if not more from his parents. Your lovely people and home scholling seems to be better chice. Kota will be more relaxed and I know this will make you happy. He'll be guided by the best.

I know that you are excited about homeschooling, but I still really wish that the school board would be told of what happened throughout this ordeal and that Kota's name would be cleared...you know what I mean? I just feel so badly for Kota that he had to endure all that teasing and taunting and then no one was there at the school to stop the bullying he was enduring. It's just so sad.

I think that it is important that you get the details of exactly what happen. I do find it disturbing that they were willing to expel him without knowing what actually happened. That is pathetic.
It sounds like you are off to a good start with prepping for the start of next school year, though.

I have a friend who homeschooled her children- two brilliant, amazing boys but overweight and targets for the bullies. The school officials were just as bad, mostly because their mother gladly took them on when they singled out her boys. She finally started homeschooling them and they are heads above other teens in their abilities. They even attended some college classes at the local community college while still in high school. Great boys. While I am not an advocate of home schooling, it sounds like it may be a good alternative for you and Kota.

I always thought that if I had kids, I'd want to homeschool them too. Then just get them involved in extracurricular activities they're interested in, with other kids they have stuff in common with. Best of luck to you!

This weekend was sooo b-e-autiful!! I'm glad you got to hang with the fam n enjoy. I wish we were opening the pool this year n we could just lay out n ahng out, but the chemicals are too expensive so I guess were just opening it for the 4th of July bbq Kota is a smart, loving, amazing boy and I hope all works out for him. These bullies anger me to no end, I just wish you didn't have to resort to this...
