Film at 11

Lately I feel like I have just been reporting the news around here. So I took a day off, mainly cuz I couldn't think of anything to write.
The school 'family crises therapist' sent me a package of pamphlets yesterday. All about teaching respect and disciplining. haha. I am going to send them back and put a note, please forward these to the parents of ____ and ____ as they are the ones who really need some training! The two kids who have been taunting kota. We have counseling today at 3 and I can't wait to tell the counselor what all has happened. I will have to see if I can find her email address just to prep her before we come in.
I think kota will be testing soon in karate for his next level! The instructor has been walking around with a clipboard and making marks after the kids do their kata's and defensive moves. He told kota he has made alot of progress!
Kota's teacher left me a message the other day. Something about a book the kids all published and he would like to set up a time he could give me kota's book. I have been trying to get a hold of him but no luck so far. I hate to call him at home but I might have to do that. Besides, I think today I will get the tee shirt I had made for him.
Me and kota are keeping busy. We went to the library on tuesday. he picked out a Harry Potter book and carries it with him everywhere. I think the book is too hard for him but he insisted on getting it. I read to him from it and he reads on his own.
Yesterday afternoon I was so tired, just from the stress and not sleeping at night. So I told kota I was going to catch a little nap on the couch. I asked him to stay inside. And he was as good as gold. When I woke up, he fixed me a cup of coffee.
He really is a joy to be around. And I know we have issues to work on and thats why he is in counseling. Its just funny to me how the first half of the school year he was a model student. Then when the problems started, the school labeled him as the problem. *sigh* No one said life was fair.
I think today we will clean out the car and wash it. Its really dirty and has a lot of pollen on it! Its a bright sunny day here.

Keep up the great positive work Mary. It will pay off 10 fold. I'm so glad you're upbeat and happy about the direction you've taken.

harry potter is a good series of books...although the later ones are geared more to older kids. they handle bullying issues there but the bully usually gets a comeupence. I still think the school administration are being unfair a--holes and should discipline the kids that were doing the taunting too.

Is Kota getting his yellow belt?
I think it is so odd that the school seems to be focusing the blame on Kota. Seems like they are just taking the easy way out.

The sun actually came out today...first time in days. Glad that Kota is doing so well in Karate.. I think the home schooling idea just keeps looking better and better. I love the Harry Potter books...I think anything that gets kids to read is wonderful.

My hearts with you and I think you are doing a great thing Mary. I just wish that we could bring more attention to what the school is doing to "promote bullying" (letter to editor? call local news? leave an anonymous tip to the media?) I really think they are wrong Mary.

I like the quote Joss brought home from the cadets, T.E.A.M it means Together everyone achieves more! I can see this happening already with you kota and your regular schedules, your all happier and seem to be making far more progress than before. You all make a great team. Best of luck to kota with his gradings.

It is amazing, and must be unbelievably frustrating for you, to witness the difference between the sweet little boy who fixes you a cup of coffee at home - to the boy who is constantly getting in trouble at school. Of course, at home he is loved and protected from those rotten instigators. I do hope the school therapist sent the parents of those other kids a handful of pamphlets too!

Tell it like it is to the teachers and counsular. My sister was an expert on "special" children and would have loved to have had Kota in her school. He sounds like he just needs more stimulation. I hope you can find a teacher with a heart as big as my sis' and she will take his hand and guide him. Hang in there. Nena

Yeah, its super sunny here too... sounds like a good day!
I was listening to my radio show this morning and there was a mom who called in about her "mentally challenged" son and how she fought tooth and nail for him to stay with mainstream kids. I thought of you because this mom said she was constantly fighting and battling the teachers - and she won... I know Kota doesn't have the same issue, but it's been a fight for you none the less!
