Anticipation

It dawned upon me last night that many of my recent posts have sounded like they were from a grumpy old man (no offense to our own "grumpy"). I'm really a happy-go-lucky kind of guy. I just like to gripe at things that annoy me. I have long list of those, which I'll share at some point.

But now is the time of year to be thinking why I (we) should be thankful. I won't go specifically into that area, but I am.

Every morning I jump out of bed eager to eat my cold cereal with berries, orange juice, and coffee. I'm happy to sit in my computer chair (matter not my previous post). In the summer, it's golf after breakfast. But in the winter, I look forward to my exercise regimen, be it boxing, biking, or jogging. I'm alive and active!

Heck, I highly anticipate the rest of my mundane day: a nice light lunch, a Sudoku, a nap, some chores, piano, a glass of wine, supper. I can't wait to begin reading my book and watching a little TV (or listening to music). I'm eager for bedtime so I can start all over again the next day! What a life.

You know you are right, life is much better when we wake up counting the blessings. Happy Thanksgiving

Sometimes it's the simple things that we need to give thanks for. I am thankful for lots as well! Happy Early Thanksgiving!

This says it all "Every morning I jump out of bed eager"

Hi again, R, I am adding that I have gone to many retirement parties. My thought always was that's their "end of the line" and I'm glad it isn't me. Then I got a retirement party from The Times. They held it at a restaurant (unusual, very special), corporate biggies came (probably for free drinks, I got Tiffany earrings. Ed came looking really great, in his executive garb (designer suit, etc.) and causing a buzz (we weren't married yet). He brought me long-stemmed roses. We took a hire car all the way back to his place in Queens. I remember thinking, hey, it's my "end", but, then, I'm Greek and always harbor some angst in me cortex.

Mundane (uncomplicated) is a GOOD thing. It's my daily goal and gives the mind plenty of room to thrive on the IMPORTANT things. Happy Thanksgiving, buddy.

Gosh, you are in a GREAT mood! Maybe the time of the year... Guess it's time for friends and family! I went shopping today and people were really nice to me! Not one person honked at me (which I truly dislike)... Hmm, how did that get into this comment?

Can just picture it - Randy flinging back the covers and springing out of bed, gleefully getting through the day, big grin on his face. Happy, happy, joy joy.

Like you, I anticipate many things when I wake up. I'm trying to reflect in thanksgiving before I get out of bed. Helps me start the day right. I just posted a sort of thanksgiving blog. Even though you may think you come across as a grump, you don't strike me as one. Your day sounds like a pretty easygoing day and you seem pretty easygoing for the most part (at least to me).

I look forward to painting every day and feel frustrated when things... like my responsibilities... get in the way of my passionate affair with my brush. Have a great Thanksgiving weekend. You can bet "Black Friday" will not find me in a store!

many years before I have that kind of freedom of movement, but I still like getting up every day to see what may happen.

I know how great it is to be retired. Years ago, my friend was griping because her company was forcing her into retirement. She was, however, in line for a really good pension (a lot better than mine, I will add). I said, I know you like to make your own decisions, but, relax, you are going to LOVE it. And so she does.

I hope you have a great Holiday!

Love that Randall. I am happy to be working from home today, anxious to get my responsibilities and chores done, so I can light my Yankee Christmas cookie candle, get cozy under my favorite red & white snowflake down throw blanket (a gift from my beautiful niece/Goddaughter) and get back to my book until my fabulous husband comes home and joins me for dinner. Then my kids come back home to me from their Dad's tomorrow after school. It's a great life, indeed.
