Phew! What a Relief.
Phew! What a Relief.
Last Fall I had managed to get my weight down to 199 from the 222 I had started from. Then all hell broke loose. I don't know what happened but over the course of the Winter I gained back 13 lbs bringing my weight back up to 212. I had stopped walking and was obviously eating way too much but didn't realize just how bad my eating habits had become until I saw Dr Duck's locum, Dr Dick, for my yearly check up. I started delivering newspapers again, just for the walking, and I have lost 5 lbs since then. For those of you who are totally lost I currently weigh 207. Shortly after my appointment with Dr Dick (February) I began to notice the bottoms of my toes were a little numb. One of the signs of the onset of diabetes. I should have gone in for my lab tests much sooner than last week but I was scared of the results. This morning I had an appointment with Dr Duck and had braced myself to hear the worst. However, I was so relieved to hear I do not have diabetes and my cholesterol is is just fine. The only problem was my blood pressure was a bit high. I pointed out that I hadn't had a blood pressure pill since Monday. He demanded to know why and looked a bit sheepish when I told him I'd been waiting 16 days for this appointment. He has signs all over the waiting room telling his patients to call two weeks in advance for an appointment to renew medications. The only other problem is my weight and the good results from my lab tests have encouraged and spurred me on to take control of my eating. I'm not going on a diet but I am changing my eating habits. Oh, and the numb toes? Dr Duck very tactfully told me I just had too much pressure on my feet aka I'm too heavy. lol
