Lion Brand Review

Lion Brand is an American company that manufactures yarn. Very expensive, mainly acrylic yarn. Thanks but no thanks. If I'm going to spend a fortune on yarn it will be luxury, natural fibres such as Merino wool, Alpaca, Silk and Linen. Today's newsletter from Lion Brand was the straw that broke this camel's back. They have announced a new product.

It is described as "this 100% undyed wool roving yarn, is spun in the USA" Maybe someone should tell the Lion Brand people that roving is unspun fibre. It is fibre before it has been spun into yarn therefore, "roving yarn" is a bit of an oxymoron.

Please note in the photo above, the spun yarn is on the left while the unspun roving is on the right.
In addition, most of their free patterns are amateurish if not downright ugly and/or useless items. Their Lola cartoons, by Todd Clark, however are amusing.
