Irreconcilable Differences
Alas it has come to this. After over 33 years of marriage DH has begun sleeping in one bedroom while I sleep in another. Quite frankly, it's the only way either of us can sleep through the night. First of all, the bed ain't big enough for the three of us and the cat refuses to leave. Secondly, DH claims I occasionally keep him from nodding off by making little muffled noises he likens to a wild boar snorting in a cavern. He usually falls asleep quickly when he retires but if woken before the alarm goes off has a great deal of difficulty finding his way back to dreamland. There is nothing we can do about the cat. We've tried. If we push her off she just comes back later. If we shut the bedroom door she claws at it. Do you have any idea what a cat's claws being dragged down a hollow wooden door sounds like in the middle of the night? Think Freddy Kruger. As for my little nightly noises, I'm pretty sure they stem from my allergies which are pretty bad right now. I've tried the Breath Right Nasal Strips and they work great but I'm allergic to them. Even the ones for sensitive skin leave a tender pink band of skin on my nose. I've told him to roll me onto my side to shut me up. He maintains it doesn't matter how I'm lying but I suspect he'd like me to try face down in the pillow.
My turn. The cat doesn't bother me as long as she snuggles up to her daddy and doesn't try to seek out my body heat. Also, I'm not the only one who snores around here. DH has been known to rattle a few doors and blow our wedding photo off the dresser. He tried the nasal strips once and they didn't really help much. Then there's those #%$& noisy neighbours. They still let the bloody pack of dogs out at five or six am and that loud mouth cow still thinks everyone in the neighbourhood is up before seven am. I tried ear plugs but I'm allergic to them too. The insides of my ears itched all the next day. Did I mention DH can't sleep if the window is closed? Thanks to the neighbours, I can't sleep if it's open. I take Melatonin every night just to get seven hours of shut eye. I'm hoping we can meet up in the same room again after allergy season is over.
