It's a sad day for me. I have spent the last hour picking up yarn bits and ball bands, escaped stitch markers and stray double pointed needles from under a beloved chair. It's an old pedestal rocker that the vacuum doesn't fit under and there is nowhere you can get a good grip on it to move it. I purchased this chair from Woodward's Department Store in December of 1982 as a Christmas gift for DH. He wasn't comfortable in it so I claimed it. It has been my knitting chair for the past 26 years. Lately my back has begun to ache, most noticeably after I've been sitting in my knitting chair for any length of time. To avoid a camel back, I've been working up the courage, over the past month, to replace my old chair with a more firm, newer chair. I posted my knitting chair on freecycle and if no one claims it it will be hauled off to the city dump. I'm going to miss my old friend.
