I wish I knew what I was allergic to. I take an allergy pill every day of the year but some days they just don't seem to work. I know my allergies are really bad in the Spring and Fall so pollen is a good guess. They are pretty bad throughout the Summer with my symptoms easing up on scorching, hot days when the trees and plants go dormant. As soon as we bring the Christmas tree inside my nose starts to run, my eyes feel like sandpaper and deep inside, my ears start to itch but I sure would like to know what's causing my discomfort the rest of the time. I'd ask Dr Duck (quack, quack) for a referral but there are no allergists around here. DH had to take DD#1 to Vancouver for her allergy tests and DD#2 had to go to Victoria for her younger son's testing. It would be nice if Dr Duck would give me a prescription for some allergy meds but he won't. I plan to skip my pill the day of my next appointment, sneeze all over his examination room and then shake his hand before I leave. Maybe he will give me another ten day supply and I'll only have to worry about the other 355 days this year. Anyway, you're probably wondering what cat pee and dirty ashtrays have to do with my allergies. That's what I smell on the days when my allergies are bad but DH doesn't smell anything malodorous. Neither of the cats have had a bladder infection in years and nobody has smoked in my house in decades. DH never took up the filthy habit and I quite ten years ago. Today I'm smelling cat pee. I smell it in my house. I smell it in my car. I smell it outside and I could even smell it in The Four Year Old's preschool. I hope it doesn't put me off my pancakes this afternoon.
