My mom and Baby Sister arrived safe and sound yesterday morning. They brought birthday presents and my mom brought a loaf of fresh baked bread (my bread maker bit the dust last month) and loaned me the book I gave her for Christmas, Free-Range Knitter. It's full of knitting stories, written by a knitter for knitters. It reminds me of Erma Bombeck's stories.
We were going to have lunch at The Cedar Room but arrived to find it closed on Mondays so we went down to the Harbour Quay to The Water's Edge. I countered my big, mybloggers, delicious burger with a salad (instead of chips). We were all too full for dessert.
I didn't think to open my gifts before we left the house and it was too late after lunch. Mom and Baby Sister had to head back to Nanaimo so I'm saving them for my actual birthday. DH doesn't know what to get me. Neither do I. All I could come up with, when asked, was a new bread machine. My Birthday dinner will take place the day after my birthday because the restaurant I want to try out is only open for dinner on Fridays and Saturdays. The family cake and ice cream get together will probably be two days after my birthday so that I can have All my family here. DD#1 is either in school or working most evenings. I'm thinking I might just pick up some ready made Chinese food from Quality Foods and DH already knows I want a Black Forest cake.
