On Wednesday I was passing a second hand store on my way into town. As is typical, several items were sitting out on the sidewalk. I didn't notice anything but the antique spinning wheel.
It looked a little like this one.
I immediately got into the left turn lane, whipped around the block and parked. I casually sauntered over to the spinning wheel and got up close and personal for a good look.
A - Wheel F - Mother-Of-All I - Treadle
The wheel joins were split but maybe a furniture restorer could fix that with some glue and clamps. The mother-of-all was complete with no parts missing. The treadle was gone but the crossbars that hold it were in place so I could easily nail a little board on there. I looked at the price. A fixer upper spinning wheel for $175.00. A little pricey for it's condition but maybe I could dicker with them. And then I saw all the metal parts were rusting and when I put my hand on the wheel and moved it back and forth it was very loose. My heart sank and I slowly walked back to my car leaving the old spinning wheel where I'd found it.
