Where Do I Begin?

I have been neglecting this blog for some time. A new post every few months. It's not that I don't have anything to say, maybe I have to much to say and I need to process it all. Let's start with the big news.

September 14th I became a Grandma to Arabella Elizabeth. My stepson and his girlfriend had their baby. She is a tiny little thing but oh so gorgeous. Unfortunately her first two months have not been easy ones. She has been in the hospital for the last two weeks with meningitis. The tests were 'inconclusive' as to whether it was viral or bacterial. I believe she is getting released today! Stepson will be marrying his girlfriend very soon as he is leaving for Iraq for a year. This time as a civilian contractor and the money was just too good to pass up. It will really help them get their life started.

Stepdaughter continues to work and go to college. Her and her boyfriend bought a house together in April. They now have a kitty and a puppy. She continues to amaze me and I love her boyfriend because of the way he treats her.

And then there is Kota. LOL My little funny guy. He is proving to be as much a goofball as his dear mama. We have been known to embarrass Dad by skipping through walmart, arm in arm. So now my co-workers also know what a big goofball I am. (as if they had doubts working with me for 2 years). Kota is in the band at school and picked the flute. He doesn't care that it's a 'girlie' instrument. He picked it because it's easy to carry around. lol

Hubby is still my best friend and soul mate. I am blessed to have him. He puts up with my moods and my goofiness. We are getting into his busy season, for propane service. So I expect to see less and less of him. thumbs down on that one.

I am still at walmart. They finally moved me back to jewelry. But we also have lingerie and shoes. Lingerie includes all the bras, underwear and pajamas. I am really tired of bras and underwear. LOL But I love being back out on the floor. I have to carry a walkie talkie with me now. Because if I am working in shoes, inevitably they will need me in jewelry and vice versa. For the most part I love the customers but there are some who think I should be their personal shopper. sorry I do not have time to pick out the exact brand, style and color of underwear you might need. Same goes for bras. Come on people, it's walmart not Macy's!

Somehow kota talked me into letting him stay home with me today. It's one of my days off and he really misses mom and me time. My schedule can me quite crazy and I work most weekends. They gave me today off along with saturday and sunday! Praise the Gods!

Now I just need my doctor's office to come up with my lab results I took last week. They are testing my throid, sugar and cholesterol. Not too worried about cholesterol. But the sugar part. I have been borderline diabetic and the last year I have not taken very good care of myself. I have so many aches and pains. It seems all I do is work and sleep. Especially on my days off. zero energy. So I just want some answers and a plan of action.

Hope I haven't bored you to tears.

Congrats on the grandchild. Kota is right, it's hard to carry home heavy instruments thats why I gave up the french horn and opted for a sax. Also, send me some bras, I need some. LOLMerry Christmas, Mary. I neglect this blog as well.

Wow, that is a lot! Hope your granddaughter recovers soon, and I hope they figure out what is ailing you. Before they started me on thyroid meds, I was so tired all of the time that I could barely get anything done. I really had to push myself. Kota sounds like such a darling. How old is he now?

kota is 9 now and almost as tall as me! yikes! my granddaughter is all better and home now, thank God. and that is exactly how I feel, so drained. My days off I really have to push myself to do some cleaning and always end up taking a nap! I just want some answers.

Worked at WalMart for about a month last Christmas. I don't know how you do it.

For the rest, you now have a new cat rooting for you.

thanks zillahkatt! walmart really and truly sucks! LOL I started working there after being a stay at home mom for 7years and I did not want to go back to my career field of accounting. now I am rethinking that decision. although I do have to say that I really like the customers and the interaction with them.

I have been reading a lot about vitamin D and how necessary it is for our bodies to function properly. When I had my lab tests done recently my vitamin D was 15.4 and the average is 35 so now my doctor has me on 3,000 IU every day. Congratulations on your new granddaughter! Arabella Elizabeth is such a beautiful name.

I never even thought of vitamin D. I am still waiting for my lab results from over a week ago!
I will try and get some pictures posted of little Bella. She is a cutie.

So glad to hear from you. The important thing about true friends is that you can pick up where you left off as if there was never a gap.

it is so very true of my MyBloggers friends! such a nice welcome back!

poor baby! Meningitis is scary. Praying for her full recover. Glad most else is going well and I hope your test results are ok. Vitamin D supplements have helped George and I immensly with energy and less aches and pains. Us "northerners" don't get enough vit. d from sunlight

Hi Fredo! I have missed you my old friend! You always left me such fun comments. I am trying to come back to blogging and keeping in touch with my friends here.

So great to hear from you lady! You have been missed... I hope all your tests come back with answers and with a plan of action! I think it's cool that you let Kota stay home with you... I bet he misses you too! Congrats on your granddaughter!!!!

kota gives me the guilt trip all the time. 'I never see you anymore! Let's have a mom and kota day!' How can I resist that. Especially when I have been feeling so sluggish lately. We had a nice day. We took flowers and a little gift basket to his big sister at work, she was having a bad week.

Nice hearing from you again! I understand; sometimes it's so hard to find the time to blog with everything doing on. I too am trying to catch up here and make more time for things I enjoy, like blogging and crafts. It's seemingly an eternal process! lololol! All the best to you and yours! Kisses for your precious granddaughter!

thanks marta! it's been a wonderful surprise to see I was missed by old friends. I will be back here on a regular basis now. I spoil kota, I know that. But I spoiled the stepkids too!

Glad to hear things are going good--2years at walmart??? I don't feel 2 years older!
Say Hi to Kota for me--happy to hear he is doing okay--how is he doing in school?
comment by greatmartin on Nov 5, 2010 8:17 AM ()
Kota is doing really well in school this year. He has a fantastic teacher who really 'gets' him. Of course he gets bored with homework but we just keep on him. At his babysitters they have a 3 month old baby. Kota just loves that boy and sometimes is the only one who can calm him down. There have been numerous time I have gone to get him, and kota is sitting on the couch with a sleeping baby on his shoulder. just precious!

I wasn't bored, Mary.

Have you had to fit a man for a bra, yet? I worked in a lingerie department, too and had to fit men more than one would expect...usually for post-surgery recovery.

I am not one to tell people what to do, but I take B vitamins every day and I have noticed a huge difference in my energy level. Do you think this is something you could check out? It really helped me.

I love hearing about your son...your stories never fail to bring a smile to my face.

no bra fittings for men yet. I have alot of customers ask me where stuff is. It is hard to just tell them as the store is huge, so I just take them. you wouldn't believe how much they appreciate that!
I forgot about B vitamins! Might have to give them a try, I think other people recommended them to me years ago.
kota is just my goofball that I adore immensely. Some people might say I am too close to him but I just enjoy him so much. The silly conversations, the songs we sing in the car and the names we come up with to call each other. As he gets older some of the names are not politically correct but he is 9. I call him hogwort and he calls me anus face. not in public!

Lovely to hear from you again Mary and congratulations on the new arrival (if you were like me, the comparison in Kota and the baby, astounds you in 'how much of a young man Dakota is)!I sincerely hope that all is ok with Arabella Elizabeth
I bet you re glad to be back on the floor at work - I'd love to be working on the jewelry counter - hey are you still making 'your' jewelry? Enjoy your well earned 'long wekend' Your 'aches & pains' are probably due to the diabetes (Chris gets them from time to time). Look after yourself! Sleep when you feel like it, enjoy the rest
So happy to hear from you again

I have not made jewelry in a long time and I really miss it. It is such a relaxing hobby. But I just have no energy at all. I work, come home and go to bed. My days off I take a nap! I am only 45 and should not feel like this. Dakota is quite the young man, and he loves babies. He says its because they are so squishy. Tell Chris hello from me and that I miss him!
