A Cooking Marathon

I have been cooking all morning. I made hot roll dough to refrigerate, cornbread for stuffing, an apple pie and a pumpkin pie and will put in the turkey about midnight.

I also fixed up a lot of food to take to a couple that are very down and out. They only get one hundred forty dollars worth of food stamps to last a month. We all know how high groceries have gotten. Most of us can help one struggling family.

Well, I am finally over the poison ivy. It has been very
uncomfortable. The downturn in the economy has certainly had an effect on most of us. Whatever we have to do to avoid a deep depression, we just have to do, no matter what.

As long as I can pay my mortgage and live a little, I am doing what I can to ignore the economy! Too depressing to think about. Spent way more money on my cruise than I planned to!

It was a good time. Be sure to get the recipe for Paula Deene's banana pudding off food network. It is heaven.

Last night I dreamt that I was at your house and we were cooking up a storm, so this must have been what I was dreaming about.

Ed, too, sharing his comfort with a terminally ill friend, taking her stuff, offering car service. I joined him today and we all sat in her living room chatting. We had her over last Thanksgiving with Ed's liberal relatives. She was stunned at our New York style dinner-table conversation. Thought we'd lost her, but apparently we have redeemed ourselves with kindness.

Jeri, you are such a sweetheart! I'm sure the family will be so delighted with the magnificent meal!! Glad you're over the misery of the poison ivy... That must have been so atrocious. I know things are going well with you, just because you are you.

Thanks for sharing your kindness. Hopefully, your post will remind the rest of us to do something special for someone, too.
