The Ninth Decade

I have discovered that I am breakable as I have been falling a lot. It is wierd, one just tips over without any warning and I know now why my grandmother had to go to a nursing home. It is odd that neither of us broke a hip but I attribute it to my fondness for calcium rich food like cheese and real butter. I was talking to my second husband's widow who was also Bobby's step mother and we have become good friends. She said that all our children should be relieved because we have partners to help us through this difficult time. She is right, two is always better than just one and we are not so dependent on them as we would otherwise be. I voluntarily stopped driving and my little Prius that only has 2,700 miles on it will go to Sara. It is nine years old but spotless and I am sure Sara and the her ducklings will soon tear it up but she was driving a horrible old Suburban that cost l50 dollars to fill up and was a roll over waiting to happen. She is coming to get it Saturday. I am close to my sister and my daughter and my extended family and something is always going on. Mike and I were e mailing on a daily basis but I have not heard from him in a while. He has maintained his friendships and contacts from Fredo's family so he is doing ok.I hear from Laura almost daily. You have all become a part of my life and I am so glad I reached out to all of you. I am so proud of my grand daughters. Adrienne has found her niche with all those other engineers she works with, Ashley is studying to become an oncology nurse, Bobby would have been very proud of them. BTW Ashley is six feet, two inches tall, a record in our petite family. Sara teaches fourth grade and wrangles three adorable children and Laura is coping with life in NYC. She has been able to find the work that she loves. We miss her. Laura only has a few days here but she always saves one for us and I appreciate that so much. Ted and I have the usual aches and pains. It is just part and parcel of living so long but we have generally good health. The V.A. takes excellent care of Ted and has told me that any time I feel overwhelmed they will send out regular household help. I appreciate this so much...but for now it would be intrusive. Be well and be happy.

Wrangling kids is probably enough exercise for now. Maybe this year will be the time you find the perfect lake house.
