A Romney Spokesperson Fulminates

I posted the following this morning (interrupting my laundry/kitty labors because I couldn't hold myself back) on the Facebook page for MSNBC's The Daily Rundown with Chuck Todd. And I repeat it here.

I just heard Bay Buchanan's take on Romney and the campaign. I don't know what her incentive is, but it is obviously not the fortunes of women in this country. Moreover, her defense, spoken in a tense, tight voice, striving to convince the listener with her rapid delivery, verged on hysteria. Earlier this morning, Joe Scarborough, hardly a touchy-feely liberal, rendered his opinion that no American president could turn back the tide of Muslim extremism and hate for this country and I believe him. Ms. Buchanan's claim that it is Obama that has made the unrest happen is her wish list and her credentials to support her opinion are that she is Romney's campaign adviser.

I will add that insofar as unreasonable hate goes, we have our own version of Muslim extremism in the latent racism that still pervades our society. Many of our extremists lead lives of low potential. It is not their fault they were born without the ability to truly rise above marginal lives, but they want a scapegoat and the extreme Right feeds their desperation with a convenient black man, as if every year up to now was just roses for them until Barack Obama was elected.

Kathleen Parker (conservative columnist) recently wrote that she is troubled by personal opinion and partisanship in the media. I say I am glad of it, but only because it is the only defense we have against the billions being poured in by corporations and Super Pacs. I keep signing petitions to strike down Citizens United. I hope anyone who reads this will Google to find such a petition and sign it. If we don't get rid of it the corporations will soon control every aspect of our lives. This is the prelude to total control by the haves against the have-nots. And many of the rural, racist have-nots don't even begin to get it.

This is not a theocracy and the good Christians are making me throw up.
If you love this country and the Constitution then vote for our President.

Sounds like you touched a nerve, Teal. I hate politics and politicians. The entry of fanatacism into the process has made it all worse. Citizens United, along with Bush v. Gore, may be the two most horrendous S. Ct. decisions ever. I see you're as feisty as ever. LOL

All four nightly MSNBC shows featured almost nothing but Romney and his 47% remark. They ran it over and over. Enough already. We get the message--he's an idiot and so are all the other Republicans!

It's not "enough already" because the message needs to reach not only you, who presumably pay attention, but all those who do not. You shouldn't get the impression that all of the voters are keeping up. They aren't. They make an assumption and then it's so hard to really think about things that they stop right there. So having this out there constantly is not enough already.

Repubs be goin' after the redneck vote - those toothless folks collecting SSI for mental deficiency keepin' their wives barefoot and pregnant, and upping their cash flow by selling Granma's prescription oxycontin.

We've seen it all before, in Germany, in the 1930s. The focus of hate was on the Jews then. After 9/11 it became ALL muslims. The World Trade Center became our burned Reichstag and ALL Muslims have been blamed for it. Without the blind hatred fomented by religious radicals we would be all right.

I have been well aware of the similarities between Nazi Germany in the 30s and what is happening here but I have hesitated to make that comparison because of the way people have irresponsibly tossed in Hitler to justify every point of view. Classic example: Obama posters during the McCain-Palin campaign depicting him as Hitler.

The progressives have had their moment with the team of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and the biased media. But they are going to be beaten back by the people who actually love this country. The conservative Tea Party is gaining strength and will not allow another failed attempt at socialism.

WE are a country that has successfully combined capitalism and socialism, as witness the millions of Americans who were not thrown away when they got old and needy during the last 75 years. Speaking to the fact that inflation and other factors are making our benevolent legislation more difficult to manage merely means we have to reform it not abolish it. I go back to WHAT WOULD JESUS DO? I mention him because this is the mantra of many of the devout who are suddenly against helping anyone. Incidentally, it is a documented fact that THERE ARE MORE WHITE PEOPLE ON FOOD STAMPS THAN BLACK PEOPLE.

I did not say that people on this blog do not love the country. I am saying Obama and the liberals keep apologizing for America and want to change the Constitution. They are the ones that do not love the country.

'people who actually love this country.' Eddie are you really, truly saying, and believe, that the people commenting here don't love America??? I really don't believe you believe that but are just repeating the party line like a puppet!

Name one successful country that "combines capitalism with socialism"? We are the greatest country in the world and until Obama and the liberals of the last 30 years...there is no other country that comes close.

I think The Tea Party should just drink the Kool-Aid.

Included among the people "who love this country" are young women with driver's licenses. Don't get cocky too soon. The best political system is one that combines capitalism with socialism because throwing your poor and disabled out with the garbage is NOT WHAT JESUS WOULD DO.
