The Romney Debacle

Watching the news tonight and listening to the admittedly progressive opinions of the news analysts on MSNBC, I have come to a new realization. Of course, the pundits mirror my views, but something more has emerged from the commentary and the facts presented.

I once thought Romney was an intelligent man with moderate instincts he was hiding because he needs the extreme Right Wing of his party to support him. So I thought he was reasonably smart, albeit a sleaze.

Now I realize ROMNEY IS NOT INTELLIGENT!!! Wait … hear me out. The only good thing he did as Massachusetts governor was his health care plan. But it came from the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank. Now, of course, he repudiates it because Obama based his affordable Care Act on the Massachusetts plan. It included, I might add, an individual mandate. Massachusetts loves it. But, now, of course, the Republicans and Romney hate it because Obama adopted most of it.

Romney’s views on how to deal with the Libyan tragedy and other foreign events is being orchestrated by G. W. Bush advisers who are helping to run his campaign. The reason he doesn’t get on camera to express how he will solve this or that is because he doesn’t have any ideas and has to wait to get them from advisers he has yet to choose. This is stunning. Romney is an empty suit without an original idea of his own. The ape-like beating of his chest and expression of outrage is pure theater. He doesn’t have a plan. He doesn’t have a plan. He doesn’t have a plan.

Romney’s ambition for the presidency is centered entirely around his visual appeal -- a rich good-looking family guy with a Stepford wife and umpteen kids and grandkids and, ho-hum, his ability to create jobs THAT HE DID NOT DO IN MASSACHUSETTS. While he was governor, Massachusetts sank to 49th (out of 50 states) in job creation.

And it has recently come out that Bain Capital received a bail-out package from the government. Did you know that?? So he parades his family and his wealth as proof of his ability to do WHAT WHAT WHAT? Bupkis is what.

By the way, didn't you think it strange that GWB hid in Africa during the
RNC? Seems like he has massive guilt to me.

Bush was a loser that his family elevated to the Presidency through their power and their connections and with the complicity of a totally skewed and corrupt Supreme Court and their forlorn wish was that he would grow into the job. Instead, having just enough intelligence to realize that he would have to do something bold to show he was smarter than his father, he manufactured a reason to invade Iraq and prove to the family that he could do finish the job his father left unfinished. His private endeavors all failed. I fault the entire family for their grandiose plans for him. The elder Bush should have known better. Jeb is the only one who seems to have any moderation in his make-up. They should have pushed him instead.

How is Mitt Romney going to create jobs? Do the Republicans plan to do something like the Works Progress Administration or Civilian Conservation Corps or other New Deal programs that we saw during the 1930s Depression? Didn't think that would be their cup of tea - sounds too much like a government handout to the needy.

My dream for you is to get to a place where you need national assistance.

Notice how only people who want a hand out are jealous of people who have worked hard and have money?

Repeating sentiment printed in wrong place: My dream for you is that you get to a place where you will need national assistance.

I worked hard, Ed worked his way through college and a graduate degree. We have money. 2008 hurt us but didn't destroy us. We want the needy among us who didn't have our breaks and our genes, and our skills and OUR LUCK, to have a fighting chance to work their way to a job that will keep them alive and off welfare. We want to give them that leg up. When the Christian Right among us ask "What would Jesus do?" -- it's a no brainer -- He would HELP THE NEEDY and the downtrodden and the lame and the halt. As for you, oh special one who got to a comfy place in life without anyone helping you, you're one in a millions. But did you? Did you have a supportive family emotionally? So many of the poor do not. Did you have a mentor in school, in your first job? Those are leg ups that so many do not get. Examine your life.

Worked hard so his company could get that government bailout - that was as much a handout as any of them.

I keep on hearing this--who do YOU know that wants a handout????
