Our refrigerator barely five years old was warm. Oh no. Guh, ruined the coffee with spoiled creamer. This had happened once before. Sears guy came, $75, said the insulation had “fallen†and was covering up duct that allowed the transfer of cold air from the freezer (still working, thanks be) to the main chamber. He also said, while we listened in rapt fascination, that this was not repairable. He got it cold again by using a steamer to unfreeze the conduit part so that air could flow again, but it would just keep happening, he said. And Sears would give us $100 off on a new refrigerator.
So Ed thought and thought and for one wild, crazy moment verging on assisted suicide, he said maybe we should buy a steamer such as the one the repair guy had wherein every time the refrigerator had this problem, we could unfreeze the area. But he came to his senses (thereby saving his own life) and we went to Home Depot and bought a new GE, side by side, somewhat taller, so Steve, our aces handyman is coming tomorrow to break down those over-the-fridge cabinets that are rarely used.
So far, so good. Then the dishwasher door wouldn’t go all the way down so that I could unload the dishes. If one moves the door a bit to the side, it will go down so we did that. But then when it came time to run it, the electronics wouldn’t mate. So we jiggled it back and it worked. This went on for a day and then the door decided that it would be permanently warped. It begged for a dignified memorial service. This happened once before and we almost bought a new one, actually made the sale, and then Ed canceled it because he got the washer to work again. But no luck this time so off we go this afternoon to Home Depot to get another one. The grinding you hear in the background is Ed’s teeth.
And last night, sighing a great sigh of oppression, I donned plastic work gloves and unloaded the dishwasher and washed everything by hand. Then I put everything back in the dishwasher to drain because there was no other way to get wet dishes out of the way. I dare say that while we are waiting for delivery of a new unit, I will be monitoring you-know-who to go easy on his heavy use of dishes and glasses. There are only two of us and each night when I run the dishwasher, it looks like we had a party.
Meanwhile, our cordless Panasonic phone, main unit in the family room, the one most easily accessible, is not re-charging. We changed the battery to one we got at Radio Shack and it was fine for several days and now it is beeping again and not recharging. So I must again call the company to find out what can be done.
And the bright spot was that Sanctimoron came in second in both primary races last night. His concession speech was masterful in its humility and courage and bravery. Sincerity is the key to success. If you can fake that, you’ve got it made. He’s got that part down cold.
The news people said 8 percent of the voters said they had voted for Romney because they coudn't stomach Sanctimoron.
Then Romney got on camera and blamed Obama for world hunger, the tsunamis, the hurricanes, the tornadoes, and his bad golf swing.
xx, Teal
BTW, a Panasonic cordless phone was the best phone I ever had--it lasted for years and survived drops nad mishaps and I had to duct tape the little stubby antenna on, but it was a fine piece of equipment. I still keep it for old times sake.
