All Over--even the Shouting

Finally! The hype, the game, the interviews--all over! Whew! I'm exhausted.
Every TV station, 24/7, nothing but the Super Bowl and Indianapolis. Interviews fishing for compliments, ad nauseum. Yes, we know, the city was most gracious and receptive. Yes, "we" pulled it off (and could do it again).

I must admit, one could easily get caught up in the excitement. That didn't entice me to fight the crowds and "party on".
I stayed home. Made a big pot of vegetable soup (gotta get that freezer cleaned out). Made a "black" pie (blackberries and black walnuts--my own combination). Sat back and enjoyed a great, exciting game. Didn't care who won.

Getting my haircut today. It's been two months--pretty shaggy. Also today, according to my SIL, his house to be moved will be lifted off its current foundation and set to the side. They're watching the weather forecast carefully. It's calling for sub-freezing temps over a 3 day period later this week. The house could be moved then. We're crossing our fingers (see photo).
This is where the real action is--not in Indy!!

I read a book.
And yes, Canadians definitely watch. But I think some of the commercials are blacked out & replaced with Cdn ones.

I wish they'd interview the puppies after the PuppyBowl.

Hmmm. I think I'm missing something here. A commercial?

The pie sounds like it could be a wonderful granola concoction!!!??? Just saying............I have to confess this was my second SB game in my entire life!!!! Parker played in Jr and HS school, so to say he is a passionate foot ball fan is putting it very mildly!!! He makes the calls before the Umps get a chance!!! The funny part is that we even go to the local HS games, as for the last 11+ years Paradise HS has been the top dog in our rural part of northern Ca. We were at one of his friends house and he broke out "dancing" when Madonna was on.....that was the highlight of my afternoon/evening!!! Keep an open mind/heart/soul when you do go out with another woman!! People 2 years ago would never believe me and Parker could live together this long, but he is an incredible man. My top five critical categories to get involved with anyone are as follows: 1)Mutual Respect 2)Mutual Honesty 3)Mutual Love 4)Great Sense of Humor and 5)Eccentric to a degree....then the other things just all fall into place...He is the first man that I actually had true intimacy with, without sexual intercourse!!!! Who knew what I was missing all those years!!!?? He made me "Go Steady" because of my nightmare history and being brought up in the system as a ward of the court, really had skewed my ability to stay in a healthy, safe relationship!!! It was worth the 48 years of waiting for him, he says the same about me, MOST DAYS!!!! As always my mybloggers friend.....sending you much love and laughter your way, Barb

Enjoyed your "take" on all the subjects you brought up! You really ARE one crazy gal! Keep those "fires" burning. And thanks for tuning in.

No house cleaning permitted after 6 PM.

Indy did a great job hosting. I heard the game tickets were $600 and parking was $200. A lot of money changed hands that day. Including $5.00 of mine. I was in a pool. Didn't win anything.
comment by boots586 on Feb 7, 2012 5:15 PM ()
It was sure a lot cheaper watching it on TV, for sure! For the life of me, I can't understand how people can spend money like that. But, then again, "back in the days", I went to ballgames and had great experiences.

I have to confess I didn't watch either. I was busy doing something else...just can't recall what at the moment. These "Senior moments" are really starting to worry me.
comment by redimpala on Feb 7, 2012 4:54 PM ()
Actually, I am a sports fan; but I have never been a big NFL fan. I much prefer college football.
reply by redimpala on Feb 8, 2012 9:35 AM ()
And here I thought you were a sports fan. Perhaps only a Texan rooter. I hate those senior moments. They're becoming more frequent all the time!
reply by solitaire on Feb 8, 2012 6:19 AM ()
Canadians love their sports, too. However, I'm less interested in sports than you are in knitting.

Is that a "touche"?

Good job, Indy! The arena looked super huge!
comment by jondude on Feb 7, 2012 6:19 AM ()
Actually, it only seats 63,000, one of the smaller venues for the SB.

Sports! From the title, I thought you were giving us more details of your date.
comment by nittineedles on Feb 6, 2012 3:19 PM ()
I don't suppose Canadians care about American football. As far as the dating scene, I'm considering seeing another gal from a dating service. Here we go again!

I didn't care who won either... Pie sounds good!
comment by kristilyn3 on Feb 6, 2012 11:41 AM ()
Pretty seedy, the pie. Otherwise, with ice cream, delish!

I did not watch the game. Was too busy catching up with yard and house work.
comment by dragonflyby on Feb 6, 2012 10:41 AM ()
Priorities! Yard work at night?

what does it take to thrill you

How about a hot date? My "black" pie thrilled me! And meeting you!
reply by solitaire on Feb 7, 2012 6:09 AM ()
I watched, all told, about 3 minutes worth of it. See my post.

Will do.
reply by solitaire on Feb 7, 2012 6:08 AM ()
I was one of the six percent of people who didn't watch the game, just cheered in absentia for Fredo's Patriots. I watched Downton Abbey on PBS. Fantastic!

Don't know what I'm missing, eh?

It is so good!!

Super Bowl addendum: Is it just me? Kelly Clarkson's rendition of the Nat. Anthem was horrendous. And, except for the drummers (from IU), Madonna's show didn't exactly thrill me.
comment by solitaire on Feb 6, 2012 6:55 AM ()
All the anthem singers for the Super Bowl think this is their chance to do "something different". It isn't any more about the anthem, but about them. There should be an emoticon for vomit.
reply by tealstar on Feb 7, 2012 6:12 AM ()
I agree!
reply by solitaire on Feb 7, 2012 6:06 AM ()
Why can't they just sing the song the way it was written? All those swoopy things just make me crazy.

No Madonna fan here. Spectacular extravaganza too big for TV.
