In a Nutshell

1. It's hot

2. Coons ravaged my corn patch last night.

3. I'm hot!! (see #2)

4. I'm in the poor house: paid all but $1000 to the septic guy.
(I'm holding out until he completes grading the yard.)

5. Won "best score" in league today (one under par), and "closest to the pin" (2'2"). They all hate me.

6. Picked 3 quarts of huge blackberries today. Yum yum.
Found them behind the local cemetery.

7. Got dizzy picking--dehydrated I think. I'm fine now.

8. Heard Bach's Double Violin Concerto on radio, and it sent me soaring!! I don't ever remember hearing it before.

9. My nephew had a baby boy a few days ago. Looks like a train trip to Washington St. is in our (sis) plans, come Nov.

10. My father refuses to turn on the AC in his house, and it's sweltering hot--88 the other day. He's nuts. But so am I.

Heat wave here too. Thought I recognized Satan at the laundromat the other day. He seemed in a good mood.

A few years ago a cat, resident at an outdoor veggie market, was taken home by its owner until the market could reopen after Hurricane Charley damaged it. When it came time to take the cat back to the market, it wouldn't go. Had got used to air conditioning!

I've never adjusted to AC. Maybe it's because my parents never had it. I actually get too cold with it on.

What an assortment of thoughts and all except the heat and the coons are pleasant or interesting. Oh, how our minds do work!

I was just too lazy to write coherent sentences, hence the abbreviated version.

We are in the 100's here in Georgia and with the high humidity it is just smothering. My dogs get so excited about going for a walk until they get outside in the heat and they just head back for the a/c. I still prefer the heat over the cold. My old bones can't take the cold weather anymore.

I'm with you. I actually enjoy this heat.

I have been in a nutshell for eighty years and it has not cracked.Heat wave here Randy we are hitting 100 in some places.
We are trying to keep cool. The fans are working overtime.
AC we do not have. Not as fortunate as some people.

95% of the time, you probably don't need AC. You're now in that 5%. Go to the Mall or somewhere cool.

As soon as I get my head out of this freezer I'm going to comment here.

We have had some kind of upsidedown weather. It has only been in the 80's and it is raining all the time. 4 inches in 90 minutes last night.
comment by elderjane on July 7, 2010 4:19 AM ()
We're hoping for some relief tonight--rain included.

You've got to get your dad to turn on his AC. At his age, he could dehydrate quickly.
comment by redimpala on July 6, 2010 9:19 PM ()
Listen. We've begged, pleaded, cajoled, threatened..... When he gets his heat stroke, he may concede.

Your Dad needs intervention. Heat like than can really affect an elderly person's health.
Kudos on the blackberries.
We went to Mexico City, last night and today. I love and I hate it. It's an enigma to me, that place. I might post about it later.
comment by jerms on July 6, 2010 8:58 PM ()
Guess I didn't realize you were that close to Mex. City. I imagine it's something else. Dad needs to be hijacked to a cool spot. He's so stubborn.

I won $10 total ($8 net). It never occurred to me to turn pro when I was younger. Always wanted to be a poor teacher. Duh.
