I've been somewhat discouraged lately with the situation here at MyBloggers.com.
As many of you know, our founder, Eddie, split from Blogster to start this site. Quite a few of us dissatisfied bloggers emigrated to mybloggers.
While I haven't regretted moving over, I'm not happy with what I see as a common occurance: "newbies" dropping out as fast as they arrive. If I do see a new face, I try to make friends by reading and welcoming him/her. But I get ignored. Then, they're gone forever. What's with that?
Not only that, we keep losing familiar faces (Do I need to list them?). Some "friends" suddenly disappear, without warning or explanation. Poof, gone.
I realize the "competition" is fierce, especially with Facebook and Twitter. It appears that those social networks are dominating and taking over the time spent on blogging sites such as this one. At least I'm guessing this is so.
I really appreciate all of "survivors" that have stuck with us. I enjoy my (our) core group of mybloggers-ites. Many, however, have left, for one reason or another. The base is shrinking. And no "rookies" have replaced them. This can't continue.
If someone posts an article, and no one reads it (or comments), it's little wonder that blogger feels like he's peeing against the wind. Getting no response for his (her) efforts would cause one to get discouraged. And how often I have commented on a post, only to be ignored.
If you're going to get involved with a project, get involved with the project! You can't play a round of golf by playing only one hole. And if you decide you can't or don't want to play anymore, don't just stomp off the course. Don't keep us guessing. And for the "part-timers", either s**t, or get off the pot. I get tired of your shenanigans. I don't like ghosts in the night.
My patience is wearing thin with the aforementioned crowd. For the "hard-core" bloggers, and you know who you are, thank you. Keep those posts a-coming and those comments frequent. I know you're out there. MyBloggers needs you. Otherwise, we're doomed.
