I read somewhere that Mother Theresa constantly fought depression. Maybe she wrote this in one of those melancholy moments to life her spirits. Good advice, regardless of when she wrote it.

I think I'd be depressed, too, if I had to work with lepers, etc., all the time. This quote came out of a book of "A Thousand Suns" by a famous journalist, Dominique Lapierre. He wrote "Is Paris Burning?" and fought for Caryl Chessman's release from the death penalty. He (me too) was convinced of Chessman's innocence.

She must have been a tough old bird to live as long as she did where she did, accomplishing what she did, so if all this is what made it possible, I'd rather go by her philosophy than some of the others I've met up with lately.

My guess is, her "writers" were responsible for this, attributing it to her. I never heard her speak, so I don't know.
