I am feeling 100% better. This new (good) vet is interested in Kraymer, wants to know how he's doing in 2 days, says to call anytime about anything, and really listened to me...
I am a happy girl!
Kraymer now has a soft ecollar. hehe I meant to take a pic tonight but I forgot before I took it off so I will try to do it tomorrow...
Kraymer is very swollen above the wound. The vet thought about this for awhile and then said that perhaps I was wrapping the wound too tight (because when I left it looser the bandage itself would rotate around Kraymer's neck) and the swelling moved above the wound because that's where there was room. She is a bit concerned about it but not overly.
I am to put hot followed by cold compresses on the wound twice a day. The oozing will get worse before it gets better because it's going to go back down towards the surgery site without his neck being wrapped.
He is fine with nothing around his neck while I am home and watching him, and he hasta wear his ecollar when I am not home. Fair enough! I can handle that. She is very curious to learn what the mass is. I should hear back from the butcher by Friday about the biopsy, according to the new vet...
The new vet also said that if it is a fatty mass she is surprised it went down at all, since fatty masses normally don't change in size. The butcher had said it decreased by 1/3 with antibiotics... that's when she thought it was a lymph node though!
I wonder what exactly the butcher found in my bubba's neck!!!
The good vet also changed the antibiotics he's on. She put him on something that is more effective on deep tissue. Love her.
So, all in all, I am to call the good vet on Friday with an update. If he is still swollen and oozing a lot she mentioned putting in a drainage tube. I trust her, so if that's what is going to work, we'll do it!
Anyways, just wanted to give an update. I feel 100% better and I feel as if the vet actually cares. She didn't tell me to lock Kraymer in a room due to the bleeding. That's a great sign to me! :0)
