Summer

I love to soak up the sun. Just as long as doesn't get above ninety degrees, I am fine with the heat. Now that I see summer winding down it makes me sad. Fall is my favorite season but it is all too short.

The days are a little shorter and the nights grow longer.
The deck is littered with leaves and there is a little nip in the air in the morning. We start thinking about firewood and where to put all the plants that we have outside.

My DIL loves the winter. She always says, "I am a Winter girl". I have a picture of her in a long fur coat and hat, holding Adrienne in her arms in front of her parents apartment in Russia. It makes me cold just to look at all that snow. I am longing for a mild winter. I don't think we will get it. Some unknown critter has built a little house out of sticks under the deck. It looks very snug and I am thinking that instinct is telling it to prepare for a long and cold time to come.

There is an end of summer feel about the breeze and it makes me sad to think another year draws to an end; time passes so quickly.

I like winter too- as long as it is in Florida. I love to visit the north during the winter months, but I am always glad to know that I am just visiting and can return home where it is warmer soon. BTW- My part of Florida does get cold enough to wear a coat, and when it drops below 30 it is mighty chilly because of all of the moisture in the air- it turns to ice and feels so cold that it stings.

I love fall the best and I have a soft spot for winter too because it can be so beautiful. The worst part about snowfalls in cities is the slush when it is melting. But when it is new and lots of it, it is glorious. I had a cleaning lady from the islands up north. She was late to work one morning because she had gone outside in the middle of a major snowfall and couldn't stop playing in it. She dragged her husband outside too and he said "Woman, you is nuts," she reported.

had there. We still have fall and the wonderful colors from
Mother nature. The winter well,I can take it or leave it.
But I am a New Englander and this is what I expect.

I love spring and fall because of the moderate temperatures and the wonderful newness and glorious colors. I am afraid as you that we are in store for a not-so-nice winter!

Yeah, it will be mouse season here in a few weeks, maybe sooner. And hurricane season is reaching its peak, not that we get the real thing here, just lots of rain. Then the fall colors in the mountains, which are really nice when the weather cooperates. This has been a very average summer with a below average August (temp), so we'll see...
