Old Yeller Rides Again

This morning we needed a couple of sheets of plywood and some potting soil and it was old yeller's job to get there and back. Old yeller is an 85 El Comino with an attitude problem. Sure enough about a mile from the gas station, he ran out of gas. (His gas guage doesn't work.) Ted had to get out and hitch a ride to get him enough gas to go. Fortunately, a kind soul picked him up and then brought him back. It was an adventure, just as it always is when we make him do his dirty jobs. Once he had lunched on 53.00 worth of gas, he did well.

The man who picked Ted up told him a horrifying tale and I don't know if it is true but it rings true to me. He worked for a major oil company and has been laid off. He said that the eleven largest oil companies got together and decided to cut their overhead by using only foreign oil. This cut their expenses terrifically. He said that they were paying l65.00 a barrel but because their employees had been reduced drastically that the oil companies made ll billion dollars profit last year. If it is true it should come to the attention of someone who could stop it. Bush is the fox guarding the hen house, so he won't

The real estate people showed the house and farm this morning. I don't think they establish serious intent before they bring these people out. They like us to be somewhere else when they show the property. Sometimes I think th at people just look for recreation.

Dallas and Ruth will be here tomorrow afternoon. I am really looking forward to it. Just about everything is done and we can just relax.

He is yellow and sort of rust color and his body needs work but Ted loves doing that sort of thing.

Pay no attention to the liquid oozing out of your computer. I'm drooling over your El Camino! I've always wanted one. As to the showing, I always thought the ones who look for entertainment go through on open houses. Too bad you got all cleaned up and stuff and then they weren't even serious! Glad you have something to look forward to.

And your El Camino is really yellow? Cool!

I think people drive by places and wonder what it's like inside and want to look just out of curiosity. It is a hassle to have to leave when there is a showing, but at least you don't hear all the rude comments about your living room drapes or the color of the carpet.

Oh, yes! You are right about the fox! Oil companies are making enormous profits...

About your house viewing -- I know lots of people who do that for recreation. One of them is one of my good friends! She loves going through homes and seeing how people decorate and she gets ideas!

And yet, I still have friends who think that the problems of
our economy are because the Democrats have controlled Congress
the past two years. Meanwhile, a story in today's NY Times is on
the theft of used cooking oil (yellow grease) from fast food
restaurants because it can be used in the prep of diesel fuel.
It is now a commodity. Sheesh.

Rings true to me too. The price of gasoline is up over $4.00 a gallon. Americans have to dig deep to pay those prices, yet the oil companies are making record profits? The companies' pockets are deeper than ours, so why do we have to scratch below the lint just to get to work? Another example of how "Trickle-Down" Economics is a complete myth.

Interesting on the oil!!! Bush is awful in that department, for sure. I like your analogy though...
