We had a good time this weekend with Dallas and Ruth. They came on Friday and left Monday, during which time Century Twenty One showed our place twice. It worked out ok and we went to the Pottowatamie Musem on Saturday and out to eat, and then we went to the movies Sunday Afternoon and saw Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull. It wasn't my cup of tea but the men loved it. I would rather have seen Sex and the City.
I have the best flower bed I have ever had. I discreetly sprayed the weeds with round up and kept it off the flowers. Then, after the weeds died, I put down four layers of newspapers, sprayed them down with water and put peat humous on top of them. It is virtually weed free and the peat humous serves as a fertilizer and a mulch. It might work even better if you put red cedar mulch on top of the peat, but I didn't. My cannas, shasta daisies and four o'clocks are huge. I hardly have to weed at all.
I read about the process in an agricultural letter and I am
so pleased, I thought I would pass it on. It isn't near as much trouble as it sounds.
circling each? In a blank space where there are no flowers?
I can't picture it but would love to keep weed out of our flower
plantings. also how do you keep round-up from killing your
flowers? ed sprayed out back and half of one of our plumbago
bushes died even though he said he was careful. :( T.
