Too Old to Deal

There is some debate about senior citizens in Oklahoma,
selling their prescription meds. One seventy year old man
even went to doctors in Texas for additional prescriptions.
The woman who is being indited is 73. They say it is about
greed but it sounds more like enhancing social security
benefits to me.

Jail seems pretty harsh under the circumstances. Law enforcement seems to go crazy when drugs are involved.
I really think they should have thought twice before
publicizing this because it will give poor seniors ideas.

My doctor is very strict about pain medicines like Oxycotin
and such as well he should be. I can't imagine doctors doling out class three narcotics with such a liberal hand.

Aside from all this, I have been really sick with some kind
of intestinal bug. It only lasted two day but it was
truly awful.

Jenny's got your bug now. We're traveling, so it's bleh.... Glad you're better.

Poor Jenny! I hope it isn't too bad and she is past the first trimester
so it shouldn't have any effect on the baby.

Glad to hear that the bug is gone.Nasty bug.A shame to see someone selling drugs there, but not surprised. They will do something to get some extra money and yes it looks bad for the seniors to read that.

Don't know all the circumstances of this; but I can tell you that my neighbor's doctor is aiding and abetting her dependence on Class III narcotics. She is already taking two 1000 mg hydrocodeine now; then, she talked him into prescribing her additional morphine twice a day on top of that. Says the hydrocodeine just won't hold her. The woman needs some detoxing, I think.

I know someone who gets pills for her daughter. That kind of stuff irritates me because it both contributes to the drug abuse problem and hikes the cost of Medicaid/Medicare.

Are you feeling better now I hope? I can't imagine doctors liberally giving out those kind of drugs either - seems strange to me!

Ugh. My biggest fear when I go on my trips, is cramping, etc. No fun. Hope you're feeling better by now.

Sorry you had a bug, and hope it's gone for good. I've seen stories about the methamphetamine culture selling prescription drugs on the black market, and now I know where they get them, probably starts with obtaining them from their granny and then they find strangers who are willing to sell. It would be really tempting to supplement one's social security this way. I hope doctors don't start withholding pain meds from folks who really need them.

That is a real danger. I am super careful with prescriptions and always
put them in the trunk when I pick them up.
