Okie from Muskogee

I am sure that you have all heard that song. Muskogee is a
metropolis compared to McAlester, Oklahoma which is the red neck capitol of the world. But I am proud of them for this:

The Baptist group from Kansas which penetrates the funerals of our service men with nasty signs and pickets marching
up and down went to a funeral of a service man there with
their obnoxious and disrespectful messages. They got a
big surprise. When they went back to their van, all of the
tires had been slashed. They couldn't get anyone in town
to fix the problem. They eventually got Walmart to deliver
new tires.

I spent two years working in the area. When my car needed
a new motor, I had three offers to burn it down. Anarchy
and lawlessness reigns supreme in that part of Oklahoma.
All the same, I am proud of them for taking the law into
their own hands and slashing those tires. What kind of
God are those people worshiping to show such disrespect
for the bereaved and for their country?

Even though it may be the Kansas peoples' 'right' to do it, common decency should prevail. There are surely other forums where they could make their opinions known. Zealots like that might have gotten more people to sign up for the cause if they weren't so extreme and obnoxious about proclaiming their opinions.

They are horrible people. No wonder they got their darned old tires slashed and I am glad that they did.

I mistakenly put your answer at the top.

I didn't know this Fredo but I am not surprised. It is hard to distinguish between hate groups and some of the Christian population. The Baptist and the Assembly of God groups seem to be the worst. Surely the
girls will win.

I'm a card carrying member of ACLU. This religious group is sick and "wrong" to do what they do. BUT. They are within their Constitutional rights to object. Furthermore, slashing tires in retribution is equally "unchristian". The "serves them right" rationale is no excuse for vandalism. (Why am I always the voice in the wilderness?!)

You are saying two wrongs don't make a right but in this case I am all for
those who chose to retaliate.

hahaha That's kinda cool... karma.

I could not help but think if someone did the same to them at one of their
funerals the sht would hit the fan.

to the "good" townsfolk.

They are indeed a disgusting example of free speech.
comment by kjstone on Nov 17, 2010 10:24 AM ()
I think the townfolk were justified in their action and hope the Kansas
group learned a lesson.

there is a story coming out of OK about a Lesbian couple did not graduate or something like that because they were gay.Are they serious.
the girls are going to fight this and hope that they get them.
Never heard such a things.Maybe it is the Baptist doing.

Your answer is on top/ I goofed.
reply by elderjane on Nov 18, 2010 8:12 AM ()

That is exactly what I thought.
comment by elderjane on Nov 17, 2010 10:02 AM ()
That Baptist group is bizarre! They should be so well received wherever they go.
comment by dragonflyby on Nov 17, 2010 7:08 AM ()
I just really hate them. People should be allowed to grieve without
being the object of their hatred.
reply by elderjane on Nov 17, 2010 10:00 AM ()
Wow. I don't see that as lawlessness...just a super strong sense of community. I would be proud, too.
comment by juliansmom on Nov 17, 2010 7:00 AM ()
I think it really served them right. I wish they could be thrown in jail
for disturbing the peace.
reply by elderjane on Nov 17, 2010 10:01 AM ()
That was a good response to this kind of pious crap.
comment by tealstar on Nov 17, 2010 5:15 AM ()
I thought so too. This is such a terrible thing to do to grieving wives and parents. They are twisted.
