Money Can Buy You Love

I didn't really believe that until we took our two grand daughters shopping today. We sure got massive "I love yous"and lots of hugs an kisses. Their parents don't indulge them much except on birthdays and Christmas. Ted is really easy.

I have two super bright grandchildren and I can understand why they have trouble with social relationships. Blake is at the University of Southern California and is finally in his element. It will be a while before Adrienne is in college but her conversation is on an adult level and the other kids don't know what she is talking about half the time. I wish I could take some of the bumps for her. Ashley will have it much easier. To compound the problem, Adrienne is ten years old, taller than I am, and getting a lush figure. That makes it harder to remember that she is just a little girl.

Have a great weekend. We have to show the house twice on Saturday..once to a guy who wants to walk over every inch of the farm and once to a more casual looker. We aren't getting excited, but cross your fingers for us. Jeri

Way to go "Grammy"! They'll turn out ok. There's a niche for everyone. Not to worry. Same for your house--the right people will like it.

The school system fails the kids at either end of the continuem but it seems that more money and effort is expended on the under endowed. Adrienne does get taken out of the classroom one day a week for a program for the gifted. I am not sure how good the enrichment is.

My grandson is eight months old. Still eating sleeping and smiling a lot- not old enough yet to have more serious problems resolved than keeping him safe. You sound like such a wonderful grandmother. Good luck with the house this weekend. What happened to your "air conditioning" adventure?

Your grand kids sound great. bumped talks about official outlets for
precocious children but the other problem is the adults around her
expecting 15-year old behavior from a 10-year old. They respond
to visuals instead of to reality. I knew such a kid, started looking 20 when he was only 14 and got crucified for behaving like a
14-year old.

Give him a map and send him out there. It reminds me of our annual monitors of our conservation easement. We have no idea where our property lines are, it's all just 120 acres of rocks, trees and steep hills, so we just tell them 'good luck.' They are looking to see if we are developing the land. Oh, sure. We can't even get to the land on foot much less construction trucks.

A 10-year-old with a mental age of 18 has problems she doesn't deserve. It's not her fault the school system fails to give her appropriate outlets.
