Humiliation at Our House

Rex was watching the evening news at our house and they
showed clips of dog shows and all the frou frou dogs and
haughty terriers, mentioning that Golden Retriever's never
won Best in Show. It crushed the poor dear but I understood
why. They are such clowns and so full of mischief and love
that they are unable to parade around obeying orders.

We have lost Adrienne to her peer group. She has requested
permission to walk to Allison's house with her friends and
wait for her mother. A big part of this is the fact that
Dakota is in this walking group. He came through handsomely
for Valentine's day with a lot of very thoughtful gifts. She is the only one of my grandchildren involved with boys
so early. Illogically, the dance is tomorrow night. I got
the girls hair ornaments and lip gloss for Valentine's Day
and a mini box of chocolates.

I was in Walgreens buying vitamins and observing the behavior of all the men loading up on chocolates and flowers. I couldn't believe it. I remarked on it to the
clerk and she confided that she had gotten an electric
heater for Valentines day and her birthday but it was ok
because she was cold.

Oh, you'll find me at the drugstore the day after Valentines Day checking out the bargains on chocolate! Hey, that's today!

I don't dare. It is hard for me to resist chocolate but I love Cadbury's.

Poor Rex. I think he deserves an extra doggy treat.

The newscaster thought it was their love of people that kept them from
winning. I consoled him with a large bite of chicken breast.

Poor Rex! What a blow to his doggie ego! But, with all the love he gets, I'm sure he will recover.

It is hard to say who is the most spoiled, Ted or Rex.

Rex will always be a showdog to me. My in-laws used to admire Buddy the Cat and say he could be a showcat. So that's his other name: Showcat! Showcat! He knows it, too.

They are both gorgeous. I love Buddy's white vest.

Rex is aces in my book and best in show at my house. Give him a kiss from me.

That will console the poor dear.

What is a hair ornament? TOO Funny about being in Walgreens, I was in CVS and the line was full of men with chocolate and cards... And Rex is perfect the way he is.

Headbands and glorified bobby pins. Ashley wears headbands a lot and
Adrienne is trying to train her hair away from the bangs she has always
worn. I am going to put my hair up again this summer and it is painful
growing it out so I got some stuff to hold mine up too. I hate looking
like an aging hippie.

I love the way you personify Rex and assume he understood them say Golden Retrievers have never won. That is funny and sweet.

Nice guys never win! Rex understands a lot. I can bargain with him. I
tell him to go eat his dinner and then he can go outside. Amazingly he
understands. Probably just dinner and outside are the key words. He is
a picky eater and this works well.
