Sunday

I noticed that there was very little posting today which is
understandable. I really didn't want to do much but ended
up getting a little cleaning underway. I probably wouldn't
have if Phyllis and Renee had not called and said they wanted
to come over. They were on their way to Sam's and brought
us a cake they had baked. I haven't cut it yet. We really
enjoy them. They are having lean times. Phyllis hasn't
sold a house since the middle of September. I wish the
real estate market would pick back up.

Ellie called to say that she had taken Adrienne in hand and
made her buy a new dress for the Valentine's dance. Ellie
has odd taste. It is red satin which she will wear with
a black shrug. Satin is a little much for a middle school
dance, I think. She will meet Dakota there for their "date"
Adrienne very seldom will go shopping.

It is strange but Linda's youngest daughter is beautiful
and outgoing and has never had a date. She is senior class
President in her Tulsa school but is very immature emotionally. Linda said that she still watches Sponge Bob
Square Pants with her girlfriends and Disney movies as well.
Linda is very glad because Sara has such a bad boyfriend.

Ruth called today and sounded so lonely. She said Sunday's
were her worst days. It got down to l7 below zero in
Wichita and her water froze despite heat tape on the pipes.

I think I will watch Places in the Heart tonight. That
Sally Field movie. I think that is the right title.

My grandmother's favorite hymn was "In the Garden". I didn't get to
watch Places in the Heart because two funny westerns were on and I watched
them with Ted. We saw The Good Guys and the Bad Guys with Robert Mitchum
and George Kennedy and it was hilarious and then another with Robert Duval.

I am so glad you are feeling better. I think our Laura is a little
frightened of boys. Linda thinks it is a good thing.

I watched Sponge Bob in a psych class in college, it can be very informational. And I still think it is an amusing show.

I watched a special on Queen Elizabeth.

I love the stories about Queen Elizabeth I. She spoke 7 languages and
didn't have to rely on interpreters. She was a wily monarch.

What, no Grammy's? I watched the Discovery Channel about male/female relationships. Interesting 2 hours. No Lady Gaga (gag-gag).

What? You don't like Lady GA Ga?

A good night for a movie. R and I watched Going the distance, it was a cute romantic comedy. I lived in a bubble when I was in high school as well, so try not to worry too much! I didn't REALLY date until I was in college which seemed so old to me at the time, and it is, but I think I turned out fine, and I certainly made up for lost time...

I am not worried about Laura not going out with boys, but Sponge Bob?

Linda's daughter will mature emotionally when the time is right for her. Not all kids mature at the same rate.

Yes, they do grow up differently. It is a little alarming to see
Adrienne looking like a luscious ripe peach at not quite l3.

I painted for a while today and even took a nap. I feel refreshed and ready to get a few things done. That senior girl who has never had a date:while she may be developmentally delayed (emotions not developed for her age), I don't know that it is entirely a bad thing. Too many other girls her age are experimenting with drugs and already sexually active and it must be difficult for her to find friends that she feels comfortable with. Teenagers tend to mature by beginning to break from their parents and maturing along with other teens.

I loved Places in the Heart. For one thing, they sing the hymn "In the Garden" one of my mother's favorites, and I liked the various characters, especially John Malkovich's.
