In the Garden

Every thing is in bloom. I have tiny little squash and green tomatoes. The herbs are doing well and I have plenty of
mint for our iced tea.

The birds are eating like there is no tomorrow. The nestlings have departed the nest and are whizzing
around like little planes. The first one out staggered
around by my foot and then gained about a foot of
altitude. It took them about thirty minutes to get
really good but once they had the power of flight, they
were earth borne no longer.

Have a great weekend my friends and do something fun.

We had a bed of mint plants when I was about 8, and I miss the smell; you've got me wondering if I could grow it. (I tend to kill plants)

Watch that mint. It is an insidious creeper. It took me more than ten years to clear it from a bed.

I know that when you have good soil it creeps but my soil is poor and I
feel lucky that it lives.

I fertilized my vegetables today, everything is coming along, and as usual, I have great hopes. I did two mint plantings last year, and neither one made it through the winter. Big surprise, because here I was worried about it taking over. I'll have to try again.

I am hoping my mint weathers well. I love it in iced tea.

So you are bird watching?

The little ones are so funny. They found the bird feeder but aren't quite
good enough to use it so they are eating the seed the big b irds drop.

I have a video of the garage birds from two years ago learning to fly. They'd jump/flutter from one log to another until they ended up on the floor. Then the process would reverse and they go up little by little. Wasn't long before they were out of the garage. I also have a few green tomatoes even tho the plants are terribly small for this point in the season. It's been too cold and wet, but they know it's time to produce fruit. Hopefully things are turning around, it was 81F today. Hope you'll be posting pics!

I was so amused watching those birds. I had to shoo them out of the
driveway before I could drive in they were using it as a landing strip.
I will have to get Adrienne over here to teach me how to post pictures.

Yes indeed. I can't get over the vast amount of seed they eat. We must have the best restaurant in town.
