This was my day to have a little freedom. My antique club met this morning and we had an electrifying time listening to Hazel who had been in the Moore tornado. Every thing that she owned was destroyed. Her horse had such severe
injuries that he had to be put down. She is living with her son and going everyday to remove debris so they can mow
her fifteen acres. She looked very much the worse for wear. The sun has turned her a deep brown and leached all of the color out of her hair. Not that these are important in the grand scheme of things but it has to have
an effect on her morale. It is a miracle she survived . She
stayed in the closet with her dog and a pillow on her head.
She hasn't even started on an inventory of the contents of her house. All her important papers are gone.
This should be a lesson to all of us to take a photographic
tour of our houses and put it on a cd in your safe deposit
box. We are working on doing that.
We had a good time and adjourned to Pelican's for lunch.
At 2p.m. I got a call from Ted frantically wondering why
I was not home and urging me to pick up some things from
the base. I did all of those things.
I couldn't stand to see Bobby feeling so bad so I got him
started on an herbal medicine, nutrition therapy and I hope
he will get stronger and feel better. If he starts chemo
he will have to discontinue it but it gives him something to
do that is positive. Ellie has a tea that she makes for him
and she can see he takes his vitamins. I had to get it in
Tecumseh and I want you to know that my Prius got 53 miles to a gallon. I also got to see my dear friends, Celeste
and Red. Celeste is deep into Alzheimer's but not much
worse than June. They both know me for which I am grateful. Red is my age and he is hanging on to take care of
Celeste in spite of congestive heart failure. He has to do all
of the housework because Celeste gave up that sort of thing. She was also a talented cook but she gave up cooking also.
Ted and I saw an expensive Native American set of deer
antlers sheathed in beading at the Red Earth Museum. We
are trying to replicate it using leather instead of beading.
The antlers are a gift from Rex who dragged them up out
out of the woods one day at the farm.
Very nice on the Prius has miles!!!
