Ah Beauty!

Ted watches some funky tv, so when he asked me to come watch
a program with him I was less than thrilled. It turned out
to be riveting. It was toddler beauty contest between four
and five year olds. The costumes were fabulous. They were
teased, made up and taught some very sexual moves. The
mothers and daughters were equally competitive. It focused on two little girls, Eden and Mckenzie. Last year McKenzie
had won the supreme Princess title and was determined to
again. They were equally beautiful children.

They scowled at each other's performances and when Eden was
asked what her goal in life was, she replied, "To rule the
world." The upshot of the contest was that McKenzie had a
melt down because her costume hurt and only won one minor
prize. Eden won assistant Supreme Princess and was enraged
because she didn't also win the pink canopy bed and the
thousand dollar prize. She had won four additional prizes.
Both little ones left the pageant crying.

You know I am an old fashioned soul and hate this sort of
things. One of Ashley's friends stayed on the pageant
circut until her mother was completely drained financially.
she frequently spends the night with Ashley and she is still
in diapers at nine years old. You can't tell me all those
lessons and the pressure didn't have something to do with it.

Little Jon Benet Ramsey should have taught these mothers a
lesson. There are too many pedophiles around.

No way would I watch this. It sickens me. And your post reaffirms why I feel the way I do.

I agree completely.

It's a sick scene. These children will never mature and will run into many people in later life who will not indulge them and they won't know how to handle that. I see drugs in their future and a miserable later life if they don't OD first.

Real life build self confidence when you overcome hardships and disappointments. These children are convinced they are entitled to
anything they so desire.

How can any parent in his right mind consider this a healthy thing for a baby, and that's what these children; they are babies.

These mothers are not in their right minds. One mother muttered that she
would do anything it takes to win.

There are many shows that would go away if people would stop watching. I laugh when Donna watches the program about entertainment "news" that comes on after Nightly News. She complains, "Oh, not so-and-so again". Well, yeah, keep watching and they will keep showing you what they think you are watching for. As for the show you mention, those parents (mothers) are disgusting.

Once I got started I couldn't stop. I had to see how low these moms go.

I've got it recorded, can't wait to catch up on what McKenzie is up to. I'll never forget her from the last season. Spoiled rotten, she ran the family, and she was only three or four. And the way the show handled it by playing ominous music when she'd open a door and peer around it just added to the fun, like watching a campy scary movie. It was one of those train wrecks that was too horrible to look away from.

I couldn't believe the teased hair and the make up, much less the sexy
moves. You are right ...some things are too horrible to look away from.

A 9 year old in diapers? And, those are just the issues you know about! This little girl must be a complete wreck. I think what these parents put their children through should be considered child abuse. It horrifies me.

It is like watching a plant grow crooked. This little girl's mother is
a single Mom with a low level job. It drained her financially and damaged
her daughter in many ways.

I can't believe people watch that show to keep it going.. no offense to you or Ted but that's sickening...
comment by kristilyn3 on June 17, 2011 11:58 AM ()
Yes, it was sickening but once I started, I was so apalled that I couldn't
stop.

I for one do not care about this.I feel that is sad that they try to rushed these little tots to become something that they not.It is not for the children, but the mother are the one pushes this.
comment by fredo on June 17, 2011 11:55 AM ()
Of course the mothers are the ones to blame. However, it doesn't take long
for the children to become as competitive as their mothers.to them to you.
