Republican Manners

There was a column in the News-Press (Fort Myers) today about a woman who worked for a restaurant and was doing PR work for them and they loved her, loved her, and after a very successful campaign, called her in to the head office and she thought she was going to be praised for a great job and, instead, they fired her, saying she has been seen with “too many Democrats.” She had been campaigning for Democratic candidates but had never taken time off for it, nor had she ever discussed politics at the office. Not good enough.

When the story got out, the restaurant management said she had “misunderstood” what had been said. They were letting her go because her skill set wasn’t up to what they needed. They must have taken business psychology 101 under Romney.

This is so classic of the mean-spirited character of many Republicans. I look around my island and out of 400-500 homes, there are about 20 signs for Romney and 2 or 3 for Obama-Biden. The rest of the lawns are all without signs. I am just guessing here, but if these other lawns are bare for the same reason ours is, it is because we fear vandalism. It’s just the way it is here in “God” country. And the Republicans sincerely believe they own God. Personally, I believe you get what you pay for and they are welcome to him.

We keep getting inspirational Republican diatribes against Democratic mismanagement, and Obama’s terrible record in the mail. So I mailed one back to them with several pithy remarks about Republican obstructionism. There was a “vote early” prod and I wrote, “Not to worry, we have already voted,” and signed my name and wrote underneath, “Florida senior.”

Also, last week, I got a call, not a robo call for a wonder, in which a Republican campaign worker started to tell me about how Obama has ruined the economy. And I responded that Obama had inherited an economy that even God couldn’t fix, had performed a major miracle and that he and Romney could go to Hell and I hung up on him.

Well, he pushed my buttons, but if I had a do-over, I would instead engage him in conversation and gently try to get him to prove what he was saying. I would also ask him about women's issues, and i.d. laws and generally make him squirm with my better than average knowledge of what is going on.

So it goes.

Is Eddie saying that Obama is NOT an American? I thought the whole "birthed" crap was done and gone. Guess I thought wrong...

Yeah, ain't it sad -- you can't fix stupid.

Don't get me started. I'm sated anyway.

I am so scared, simply because stupid has taken over America. when I see
an obviously poor black man with an impeach Obama sign on his car every day
when I pick up the girls, I want to jump out of my car and confront him.
There are only 3 of us in my block who are avowed Democrats. I vote one
block from my house and rest assured, I will be there at 8.

I hope you get a followup on the gal that lost her job. Perhaps the publicity will get her a better position somewhere else.

Anger is never correct. I have turned it off until Tuesday morning, when I will go cast my Democrat ballot.

There are moments when anger is not only correct but life-saving.

i use paltalk to play my music in rooms and last night i had a listen to a political room in there --each person is allowed 4 minutes on the microphone for debating.
the amount of just bulldust and abuse of each candicate was terrible and the language even i learnt a few more adjectives

Won't matter after Tuesday. Obama is going to be a lame duck. It probably will not stop him from, and will probably encourage him to do more socialist and unconstitutional things in desperation. But this country will survive his 4 years.

It is not really an apology type of thing...but, I will admit I was incorrect with my prediction. And, I the smart women will vote for the American!

One last thought that is escaping you ... 52 million unmarried women are going to the polls. Watch women roar.

Will you apologize if you're wrong?

I have two bumper-stickers and an Obama car magnet on the truck. Donna is a bit concerned about vandalism, but we have comp and I'd rather stand for something than be silent. So far; so good. No problems even tho this is red country.

I put a doorknob flier on our front door (but you have to be coming to our house to see it) and have a magnetic Obama sticker on the rear of the car. Best I can do. Good thing about being in Florida is that my vote really counts.

My problem with the Republicans I have talked with is they have not informed themselves. They don't know about voter i.d. laws being used to disenfranchise voters, they don't know about the Republican platform and the personhood amendment, they don't know that Mass. sunk to 47th in job creation while Romney was governor, they believe that Romney was behind the successful raid that got Bin Laden ... really! They believe Fox News, they worship Rush Limbaugh. I think a person who does not do his own truth seeking is marrying his own dumb and I do not feel that I am sinking to their level to point that out from time to time.

Romney behind the Bin Laden mission? That's as ridiculous as believing that Reagan freed the Iranian hostages instead of Jimmy Carter. But I know lots of people believed that too. It's a shame not to know your history.

I try to not sink to the level in which some Republicans seem to dwell. Folks are not dumb or stupid just because they vote Republican, they are simply misinformed and sometimes a little stubborn, just as we wouldn't want them to say we are dumb or stupid because we are liberal in our thinking without giving us a chance to prove it one way or the other. It'll be so nice to have the election over with.
