Editing Oneself

I sometimes post comments on various current issues in the news on various websites that invite your opinion. Sometimes extremists with opposing views respond to my remarks and call out in me the impulse to revert to the streetwise language of my youth. And I SO want rip them to pieces. But I have learned that one is taken more seriously by not doing that, so I restrain myself. Sometimes I type out a masterpiece of bile and then delete it. But it’s an effort.

I responded to one diatribe directed at me through my Facebook page by addressing the writer, Dear Mr. … and commenting “you are mistaken. Sincerely, etc.” I never heard back and that’s okay. Maybe that means he didn’t know what to say after that. And who wants to have a constant going-nowhere back and forth with such people anyway, as once in a while would happen on Blogster.

How contained can one get without splitting a gut? I’ll let you know as time wears on.

When I met my internist a few years back and he took my history, at one point, he asked, “anything else?”
And I said, “Yeah, I grind my teeth,” and he asked, “Why do you do that,” and I said, “So I don’t have to kill people.”

xx, Teal

I'm working hard on keeping my composure when it comes to politics and religion (and a few dozen other irritants). I relieve stress by bashing a golf ball or splitting some wood. Saves on teeth.

I have a PC--I do sometimes lose the pictures here when they are temporarily lost over there but they come back. I post my blog there, then c & P to bring it over here--very easy--I have been having trouble posting pictures here though at one time I didn't so I don't know what's wrong.

Sometimes less is more, particularly when arguing with strangers on a social media site. Hope all is well with you, dear Teal.

Thanks Ms. Trout. I just posted an analysis of Santorum on my Facebook page that is a masterpiece of understatement. I can't stand myself.

Eddie started blogster--a lot of us followed him here, in spite of his being Right () because he doesn't stand for a lot of petty garbage!!!

Yes you can go to 'my comments', on blogster, under settings and delete your own comments or delete other people's comments on your own blog.

If posting pictures was as easy here as it was there I wouldn't post there but I c & p my posts from there with the pictures to here!

Really? You can cut and paste photos from Blogster to MyBloggers? I have photos that are on Blogster posts that I have lost because of computer crashes. Do you use PC or Apple? Give me a tute.

My mouth night guard works well, although it is getting a little thin in places. Is it saving lives?

A lot of times I will respond at blogster because, as you know they can be infuriating, and then I drive them crazy because you can delete a comment--and I love driving them crazy!!!
I've only had 2 run-ins here and one of the guys left a long time ago--I tried to handle it by e-mail but he would post those so I did the thing that annoyed him most--ignored him!! That works with a lot of people

I haven't been on Blogster for more than two years. I didn't know you could delete comments now. I like it better here even though the den master seems to be far right. But he leaves us be.

I like that... teeth grinding as a substitute for mayhem.

What if those people are in your own family? Teeth grinding is not sufficient.

That's a problem. I've learned to ignore my b.i.l.'s tricks, but he's been mellow lately. (That doesn't lull me into a sense of his not starting up again. Let's wait till election time to find out.) Everyone else -- cousins and so on -- I'm cool with. I'm lucky that way. Anyway, b.i.l. takes good care of my sis, 'though Ed says he contributed to making her helpless by doing everything for her long before she needed this much help. But you can't organize someone else's accommodations. For instance, don't blame the wife (me) if the husband is smoking again -- there are some things no other person can change in a situation.
