What's on the Menu Today?

Happy Sunday!

This is kind of funny. When I got to work on Wednesday morning the head meat cutter asked if I wanted this five pound bag of hamburger. It was less than 10 dollars and I'll admit it, I'm cheap! So Wednesday night I made cheeseburgers and french fries, Thursday we had tacos, Friday we had chili and Saturday we had American chop suey.
So today we are having a roasted chicken with garlic and herbs with mashed potatoes and spinach and a banana vanilla wafer pudding parfait. I think if I make anything with beef again this week I may be in divorce court. LOL!

The thing I really love about our store is that they grind the hamburger from all the meat that they cut, it's not a processed roll of who knows what. And it's twice ground, we have 80 and 90 percent. I always go for the 80 as the fat has a lot of flavor. And it's 20 cents cheaper than the 90 percent.

Hubby's begging for breakfast but I'm holding out until Ra wakes up so I only have to do breakfast once. We're having bacon, french toast and eggs.

Have I mentioned that I am doing a lot of cooking with wine lately. I tried the cooking wines and then tried the pricier brands and I prefer the pricier ones. For instance a Hearty Burgundy is great in a tomato based sauce and chardonnay is excellent in a chicken base. I don't honestly believe I have ever made the same meal more than once unless following a basic recipe. There is always something that catches my fancy when I'm in my kitchen brewing my stocks.

I need a name for my cook book. Any idea's? It's got everything beginning with drinks and ending with desserts. I better get off and running. I'll be back!

Happy Cooking,
Sum

I love to find good bargins at the store, when I get ground beef like you did, I freeze most of it. That way I have it when I need it. You were making me hungry..

I was brought up on your American Chop Suey-but we called it goulash. Same stuff though. I still make it. In fact I need to run to krogers, think I'll make it today.

Barb: I am soliciting recipes "that make you feel good," for my nonfiction book. I want one from you. You will be given a credit in the Appendix. No moolah, though. I will send you a description of the book when I can.

"Sum's Recipes" sounds good. I have been experimenting in the kitchen laely too. I'm making pot roast at the moment and I wanted to find a way to make it more tender. My old gut is having a problem with meats at the moment so I thought I might sear it first, then prepare as usual. Searing seems to work for steaks so I thought, what the hey. I'll let ya know how it turns out.
