Politics & Legal > I'm Losing It

I'm Losing It

Enough already. Unfortunately, it's only gonna get worse. I'm speaking of the political campaign.

I watched quite a bit of the "conversations" between Pastor Rick and Obama/McCain last night (switching to the Olympics). I'm not going to comment on who said what or on the "winner/loser".

Let's just say I was disgusted by the questions and answers of both candidates. This mixing of religion and politics has no business in our republic. I cringed as I listened to them both "humble" themselves, saying what they knew the audience wanted to hear.

I was once fired up about this election. I'm now burned out, cynical about the whole process. I've lost faith in our leaders, both past and future. I refuse to get emotionally involved anymore. You'll find me with head in sand from now on.

There is something so disingenuous about both of the candidates that I am once again becoming disallusioned with what has happened to our political system. It is a shame that every word that is uttered by them and every opinion that is forged by them is tailored simply to play well in sound bites on the evening news.
ALso, I agree with you 100% that religious beliefs or non-beliefs should have nothing whatsoever to do with the political campaigns or policies put forth by elected officials!

Whoever can corral the religious right will probably win. I don't think church and state should mingle either but we are still in Obama's cornor.

It is pathetic and feels almost hopeless.

If I voiced my opinions about religion around here, someone would burn a cross on my lawn. Our choices are few. Let's hope Obama will do the right things if he gets into office and the foomfing remarks that will get him there are not who he is. As for McCain, he survived being a prisoner of war and that shows he has fortitude. But it isn't essentially a formula for greatness or the ability to lead or make good decisions. Get captured, survive. "Hey, let's make him president," doesn't work for me.

Sounds as if I didn't miss anything by forgetting to watch this one.

I too am fed up with the current news. First we have the campaign, and the charade last night that seemed to make the choice vs. life debate a big deal. That's a side issue, important to evangelicals and not an important part of the disasters that are plaguing the US because of those morons in the White House. Besides, McCain is a flip-flopper on abortion. Just a few years ago he was all for choice.

Then we have the farce they call the Olympics. Once and forever, they said, the Olympics are all about amateur sport. BS! I hear that NBA millionaires (not one of the US players makes less than ten million this year) are cleaning up on the professional basketball courts in Beijing. The tennis players are multi-millionaire professionals. Gimmeabreak.

They took away Jim Thorpe's Olympic medals because he played semi-pro baseball or football for lunch money!

What a farce.

Once again, mealy mouthed politicians saying what they think
the public wants to hear instead of being true to their own
standards.

If you wanna see church & state really commingled, move to Utah. Yuk.

I didn't watch Rick Warren's political song and dance for evangelical voters. I'm curious why you even watched. But I am still fired up about this coming election and the drive to get the Democrats in the White House and Congress and say good riddance to Bush-Cheney and their neo-con henchmen and their destructive policies and actions. Take a break, and then come back and join us.

Tough to breathe under there! Be sure to come up for air once in a while.
