Letter to the Editor

I'm on my way to becoming the most despised Rossvillian in my community. My letter to the Lafayette Journal and Courier was printed yesterday. It was about the president and other elected officials taking oath of office by swearing in on the bible. I maintain it should be done on the Constitution--separation of church and state. My community is pretty Christian conservative and don't cotten to that sort of liberal talk. (Google Randall S. Smith, Rossville IN for the link to my letter. I noticed another one from last year listed, also.)

On another subject: I watched Oprah's "best ever" show on becoming healthier, yesterday. I thought it was good with some worthy information. I'm pretty much on the right track with the exercise and sleep I get, and the foods I eat. I need to cut out the before-bed corn chips, and watch my hydrogenated food products. Buying cheap brands can be bad for you.

I'm supposed to have more sex, but living solitaire limits that activity(!). And it's been 11 months since my last Dr. visit, so I need to schedule a physical. I feel really good and healthy. I weigh less than 130 lbs (at 5'8"), but like I've said before, if I gain any weight, it goes to my midsection. I'd like to know what my body age is, compared to my real age (65). I feel much younger, but you never know what lurks inside this old skin.
Take care of yourselves my fellow greasers!

Now, I have to go search google! And, you eat so correctly and exercise, and probably a few other things, that you'll live to be one hundred and ten!

Embarrass me???? Not a chance. Farm girls just don't embarrass very easily.

Well, you can buy the natural peanut butter, and I do believe there are recipes for crackers in the dehydrator manual. I've stopped buying processed cheese and use only the real stuff now.

It's pretty neat that your letters are being quoted on tons of blogs.

"Well, there ARE other ways!" I completely dont understand what you mean!

It seems the more we stick to whole unprocessed foods, the better (and younger) we're going to be. Not always easy to do. (I like corn chips too )

Well, I am still trying to give up Cheetos but I am loving the cardio-glide machine. It gets your heart rate up and makes you feel great. Ted is using it too.

"I'm supposed to have more sex, but living solitaire limits that activity(!). And it's been 11 months since..." Before I got to the rest of that sentence, I thought... wow, he sure is telling it all. Something I would do.

Smith, huh? A likely story. I'm with you on eliminating the bible from the oath. Should also be eliminated from courtrooms. Corn chips is not a big deal. You need a little something to keep you on track. Eliminating all sinful items will drive you crazy. I had my body age/real age compared on line. They gave me an assessment maybe a year younger. I don't believe their assessment because no one my age whom I know does what I do. I think they just wanted to sell me their health program. So, are you getting flack for what you wrote?

I am with hayduke I think my right leg weighs that much and I am the same height! Haha.
comment by spicybitch on Jan 7, 2009 9:39 AM ()
You weigh 130 lbs. at 5'8"??!! My left leg weighs 130 lbs!!! (Actually, I'm 5'11" at 190 lbs....but it's ALL MUSCLE man!)
comment by hayduke on Jan 7, 2009 9:22 AM ()
Ordinarily, swearing on the Constitution is an acceptable alternative even to me, but after all of the criticisms and accusations of Obama and 'Muslim' beliefs and heritage, I think the radical right out there would read something into the absence of the Bible that does not exist.

I like your idea of having public officials swear their oath of office on the constitution rather than a bible. Separation of church & state ought to begin at the beginning...

Your May 2007 letter is quoted on a few different blogs out there.

Found the new one. Interesting idea. Someone must have come up with that before. Have you searched?

Sex is supposed to be good for men to keep hormones balanced and such, especially testosterone. There's more than one way to have sex, and solitaire is one.

There is information online where you can compare your body age to your actual age. Try google to find it. Good luck.
