As the saying goes, "when it rains, it pours".

The house moving project has encountered all sorts of problems. We did get it moved about 1/3 the distance (which is about a mile and a half).

Wenching it is very slow. VERY slow! Paint dry slow. Plus we got stuck once. The ground just isn't frozen hard enough.
Temps above freezing makes for a slick surface.

On top of that, it snowed 2" overnight.

Plan B: Tractors! We have two lined up for this afternoon to actually "free-pull" the house. This kind of event doesn't happen in the big city! Wild.

I think if you go to my SIL's website, you might get a photo of the house moving: >tranquilridgefarm.com< It's a recent newsletter--or access to.

This is all for your entertainment and enlightenment. Wish us luck.
And Happy Valentines Day, ladies (men, too)!

Wow! Neat old house! Does it need much fixing up?

It looks worse on the outside than inside. Remodeled, it will be fabulous! Nate can do that sort of stuff. He's multi-talented. My daughter was lucky to catch him!

I remember watching a house being moved when I was young. I thought it was the most amazing thing I had ever seen.

It IS amazing. I just wish I wasn't so emotionally involved. Very stressful!

What gorgeous crops they are growing. Farming is very hard work, especially if they also do farmer's markets. But they have the experience now and expanding should go well for them. And I love that big old farmhouse. I have seen many like that over the years out in the country. I hope it went well today. There are more warm days ahead.

WE may have to wait now for the ground to dry out! Could be April! Thanks for checking out their website. I'm very proud of them. They do two major markets--Laf and Indy. Plus, have many "local" customers (CSA deliveries). We have high hopes they'll be successful. It IS labor intensive.

Tried to see the house but it's in a slideshow and I can't figure out how to pause it. Hope you get to move it soon.

Slideshow? Hmmm. Didn't realize that.
