High Speed!

Meet the "new me". Yep. my old dial-up is gone. "The Man" came yesterday to set me up. We'll see how fast this baby can go now.

The problem right now is that I can't access my old email address and get incoming emails. I'll have to call my former dial-up people to find out what to do. Maybe that's where the $50/yr comes in to use my old address. At least I can now use the phone while on the computer.

One email I'm curious to find is a reply to my letter to the gal I was dating this past summer. I hadn't heard a thing from her for nearly two months. I assume it's over. But I wanted to ask why. Was it something I said or did? Another boyfriend? I thought we were getting along fine. I saw no "signs" of stopping the relationship. What happened?

My daughter, the farmer/dental hygienist, cleaned my teeth yesterday. We talked at length, over lunch, about the problem I mentioned in my last post. I was pretty blunt. I said it's been 4 years since I loaned you 35 grand and another 3 last year. And I haven't seen one cent payback, which is okay (especially with the stock market so low), but that I'm not comfortable with loaning them MORE money if they can't make good on the old debt. I simply don't want to take that risk. They'll have to come up with Plan B or C. Ugh.

Time to tackle my paragraph 2 problem. Have a grand day.

You didnt had web-based email as well with your old provider? btw $ 50 a year for only email is quite expensive.

I did have email with my old provider. It's just that if they aren't my provider anymore, they charge me $50 to continue using their name--or something like that. I'm slowly converting. I have credit coming until March.
Sorry I didn't get back to you on this.

Wow. I had not read this post yet- commented on the last starting "Patience..."
Glad you decided against it. Your instincts are good.

I often say "yes" too quickly. I'm learning to "think about it".

Lucky you! Still waiting for high speed (non-satelite) to come to my area.

Yes, and for cheaper than $15 per month (bundled with DISH and telephone)! $65 total.

'That's because I reversed my name inadvertently'--and age creeps up slowly attacking when you are not ready!

Glad you have it.

I'm having some problems, but nothing major. It IS faster.

I think you made the right decision, Randy. If they had been working on paying back the first money, it might have been different.

I'm still torn about this. Emotion vs. reality. Thanks.

That's because I reversed my name inadvertently. I'll email you if I remember.

Did you print out you e-mail address list as I told you to??? All you have to do is enter the addresses on your new e-mail address and send them an e-mail informing them of change--feel free to use mine for experimenting if you want to GreatMartin2003@yahoo.com

You're a gentleman and a scholar. I'll do it. Just give me time. I can use my old address through Feb. at no cost.

You can't use your phone while on your computer. That's called multitasking and guys can't do that.

You got that right! Our brains are hard-wired for one thought or job alone. Sort of like sex.

I wondered what that blur was! I guess it was you and your new high speed.

I'm finding it difficult to keep up. I seem to be in a rush all the time. Not good.

Welcome to the 21st century ... you will have a much easier time with high speed and will be able to access videos and the like without so many problems. You talk of looking for a reply from your recent relationship. I take you e mailed her with "the question" and have not heard. If you don' hear, let it go. We don't need people in our lives who can't be up front with their feelings. You left us hanging ... what did your daughter say when you laid down the rules?
comment by tealstar on Oct 20, 2011 8:38 AM ()
I haven't heard "boo" back from the woman (yet). I'll follow your advice and "let it go". Actually, I've decided I prefer my current "womanless" life style. Less stress. As for my daughter's answer, she said, "I understand".

Interesting that you can't even access your old email... that doesn't seem fair. But yeah, that's probably why they can charge you for using it now. Change over sooner rather than later! What was your daughters reaction?
comment by kristilyn3 on Oct 20, 2011 6:18 AM ()
I can now access my old email address. Just a few clicks of the mouse, thanks to being able to use the phone while on the computer. See my response to Teal above for Emily's response. I'll just wait and see what Plan B will be. I'm working on it myself.
